Ok gw has started leaking the new eldar rules and it looks like their getting the sm treatment so it's a good guess that everyone will eventually get this. So what would everyone like for their faction? Let's try to avoid op stuff and remain fluffy. I'll start with my preferred legion the night lords.


Legion trait: if all units in your army have the night lords keyword they gain:
The Wild Hunt: all units add 2 to their charge rolls. If an enemy unit falls back out of combat then any night lords unit they were in combat with may immediately move towards that unit a distance equal to their movement characteristic. If this brings them within 1 inch of that enemy unit they remain in combat.
A talent for murder: if a night lords unit successfully charges an enemy unit it gains +1 to hit and wound for the remainder of the phase if it outnumbers the unit it charged.
Raptors count as troops. If a raptor unit makes a successful charge it gains d3 attacks for the rest of your turn. Any raptor may replace its chainsword with a nostroman chainglaive or a pair of lightning claws.

Nostroman chainglaive: add to champion equipment: melee s+1, ap-1,d2 two handed weapon. 5 points.

Relic: murder of crowes, s+1, ap-2, d3, reroll failed wound rolls. This relic replaces a nostroman chainglaive.

Strategem: 2cp lightning strike: target unit that arrived from deep strike this turn ignores overwatch.

Ok there's mine. What would everyone like to see for their faction? Yeah I know this adds to bloat and power creep but that's where gw seems to be going.

Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

I'm with you on that but it doesn't seem to be the way gw are going. Actually it seems they've forgotten r&h exist much in the way they forgot about the hellforged super heavys not being relentless. Annoying them about this repeatedly got that fixed so maybe we should start in on them about r&h?

Wait, I'm unclear on the premise. Are we assuming everyone is getting build-your-own-subfaction rules or that every subfaction is getting a mini-dex? Because your opening post suggests the latter, but the eldar leaks suggest it's just the former.

Not that it can't be a fun thread either way.

. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

World Eaters: default: current rule (+1A on the charge) plus a 4+ FNP against any wounds suffered in overwatch or from psychic powers.

Only available if the entire army has the world Eaters legion keyword: the ability to disembark from any transport after it moved and still be able to charge. 6+ Feel no pain army wide.

Relic: Thunder hammer daemon weapon, axe of blind fury is again a daemon weapon.

New daemon prince rule: Witchbane: psykers cannot cast psychic powers within 6” of this model (or maybe keep this rule for Angron and make it 8”). The daemon prince may attempt to deny 1 psychic power per turn with usual restrictions/rules.

New unit type: Chosen/Berzerkers on juggernauts. +1S, +1T, +2W. 5+ invuln save due to the juggernaut/gain daemon and cavalry keywords. Same melee weapon options as chosen. This unit inflicts d3 mortal wounds on a unit it charged successfully.

Lord on juggernaut with those rules.

Warlord trait: charge/advance an additional 3 inches.

Minimal thought put into these.

Both because we don't know what gw is going to do with each faction. I would guess some will get mini dexes while others will get the build you're own faction treatment. The legions will most likely get supplements as our "new" codex is less than a year old. It's possible the Phoenix rising supplement will serve like sm 2.0 with supplements for some of the eldar factions coming later. Some factions like the necrons will need a new codex to catch up with everyone else. But basically everyone needs something to catch up to sm. Was just giving everyone a chance to speculate how best to do that for their particular faction.

I pestered them throughout 8th.
Most of the times i got ignored until i threathened them to refund me the Index astra militarum.
I even gave them statistics from 70+ games of mine at varying point levels.

Anyways:
Demagogue devotions instead of traits would work well for R&H. (and yes leave the pricepoints for them but make upgrades these generate free)

Fix up the covenants:
like turn the 6++ into an actual working 6+++ for nurgle.
And connect them back to the champion as equipment for a unit.

Reconnect the Command disciples with the Demagogue, in order to generate a bodyguard unit and not just add on disciples with a banner.

Oh and reimplement the cut units in the troopslot and remove R&H cultists.

honest opinion, we get replaced by cadians with chainmail , /servants of the abyss. the new AI enemy boxes is just a feeler for GW to see how well they'd do.

However, i don't want an army that is just traitor guardsmen and a bunch of muties. But it is better then nothing imo.

Edit: for sure better then anything we have right now.
That said, why GW did not make the rules more customizable for SoA in 40 k use is beyond me.
The roster is big enough now to be functional if you'd add in some AT:
