Just to make sure, can an AM Company Commander order himself? He has the keywords regiment and infantry and as far as I'm aware the Tank Commanders can order themselves.

It might not be the most efficient use of orders but it might come in handy to order "fix bayonets" if the commander is stuck in combat, especially if he has one of the heirloom weapons

Ordering the commander to move move move is a good way for him to try and get away from a pickle. He can potentially run 24" away (Average 18")! That may surprise an opponent and force them to give chase.
