So a short while back FW went and "hid" their greater demon sculpts in Horus Hersey (they are not shown in 40K nor AoS listings on the site); which gave me one of those "OMG these might vanish" worries.

Now I've had my eye on the Keeper for a long while and I'm sort of convincing myself to maybe spend up for one. However at the same time I'm also trying to take a step back and ask myself if its really a good choice. The model is VERY thin and has a lot of claws, hair, talons etc... sticking out at super wild angles - all making it one of those nightmares to transport. Plus there "is" a plastic keeper out now of around the same size.

Another aspect is age, both the models are older and I'm wondering if either have any major casting issues as a result of that age. Or if there are any issues people have found in general with either sculpt (accepting that there are 2 sculpts for the hierodules - barbed and scything).

So should I or shouldn't I - which would you choose or have you chosen and what is your experience with the model?

Ps I've got a malanthrope, wolfrats and warpfire dragon from FW so I've some general experience with their models and with resin so the fact that they are resin models isn't an issue for me. Wash, clean, stick together with superglue etc...

I bought Zarakynel just over a year ago. She had one not-insignificant mold-slip on her lower-back/left buttock but was otherwise fine. Her sword was pretty badly warped, mind.

Don't use the spikes She ships with, make your own. Pin everything. Season with chains to taste.

I use a 6" deep Battlefoam pluck foam tray to transport Her. No breakages to date. KR do a cheaper tray that she'll fit into, but I haven't used it.

Personally I was never a huge fan of the FW Keeper, and it is pretty spindly.

I have a pal with both Heirodule models, they seem very solid and easier to cart around. This friend also gave/lent me a Heirophant. That model is also spindly, and we wound up putting steel rods in its legs, and mounting it to reduce the load on the foot-talons. Sweet sculpt though.

What's wrong with her spikes that requires one to make their own? Surely that's even more faffing than just clipping and carefully gluing them into place?

I've seen several Heirophants where they've put a flight or metal rod under the lower part of the belly, then put trees or rocks or ruins around the base to hide it. Basically putting a connection and weight support under the main part of the body where all the weight is. It is one model that I've never quite worked out how it got made like it did. The other thing is that it seems odd that you've got this huge monster but its only real weapons are two guns that look ilke they could be held by other smaller nids.

^What really bugs me about the Heirophant is the fact that originally it was a Warlord Titan scaled monstrosity. It's puny compared to it's predecessor. They should have just called something else.

Nothing necessarily 'wrong', but I found it much more of a 'faff' to clip, file and then glue them than to simply cut the end off a toothpick and use that. I spent forty-five minutes pinging bits of resin all over my kitchen before I gave up.

They're tiny, they're pyramids so you can't really grip them properly and the surface you attach to Herself is also the surface that attaches to the sprue, so if you're off even a little bit they won't sit flat.
