So someone just posted a Youtube vid showing excerpts from their subscription copy of WD. I've posted before about how I feel like GW is getting ready for an Imperial Agents dex; I believe that's the whole reason they're putting SoS rules in this month's edition.

So one of the WD pages in the video confirms Inquisition content in the November issue. Timed with the sisters of battle release!

I did not listen to the video- the first frame pretty much confirmed what I wanted to know, but here's the link:

Maybe it is something for GK, before CA updates them.

I would argue that a big White Dwarf feature without a community preview would show the opposite: you're going to get some rules to hold you over because you're specifically not getting a new codex any time soon.

Apparently the SoS article was basically just a reprint of the index. I'm afraid this will be the same. Then they can finally discontinue the Index Imperium 2. Inquisition is my favourite faction and they deserve so much more, so I really hope I'm wrong.

Just means there's article about inquisition. Whether it's one with rules or one like dark angels and all fluff is another thing.

The SoS were an exact reprint of the index and chapter approved rules, right down to the limitation of one stormbolter on their rhino.
The only changes were a (possibly unintended) nerfing of there psyk-out grenades and the omission of part of another rule, that may just be down to redundancy or space on the page.

I think inquisition players will be lucky to keep their terminator armour and/or have an update to their equipment costs. Anything more than that will be a pleasant surprise.

I'm with Crimson and have been expecting this for some time. Codex Sisters of Battle and Index Inquisition in November means the end of Index Imperium 2 and that December is primed for Chapter Approved 2019 and Warhammer 40K Legends.

Ideally, Sisters of Silence (and hopefully Inquisition) are getting at the least paltry new Indices in order to keep them as non-Legends content.

Also, most everything for Sisters got a price drop, so hopefully Inquisition won’t have to pay ridiculous prices for things next month.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

I just want power armor as an option back, and cheaper weapons/acolytes, and monkies being made into characters.

This makes me happy. Any attention is better than their current state.

Is it though? They probably remove half of the options they had in the index. Only the specific weapon combinations appearing on the models currently being sold will be allowed. And they still won't have access to even the crappiest of the force fields.

yeah just got my White Dwarf - lore is as usual intersting - zero effort in tthe rules

Compare it to the Crimson Fists, Blood Ravens who got a special character, Relic, strats etc etc. Sisters of Silence got FA - but hey can;t not give Marines stuff....

A while ago, I think they had something along the lines of "inquisitorial stormtroopers". Now I suppose they could get Militarum Tempestus. Perhaps with special doctrines/abilities depending on whether they belong to the Ordo Malleus (morale or Ld buffs?), Ordo Xenos (anti-flyer and anti-monster?) or Ordo Hereticus (anti-psyker?).

I'm hoping against reason that this isn't true, but I fear that it is. The only thing giving me hope currently is that they actually gave Inquisition rules in Apocalypse, and they still sell fairly new Inquisition models (Greyfax and Eisenhorn). It would be really odd to have models from 2015+ relegated to Legends.

I'm really just hoping they give them rules to be taken as a "retinue" detachment that doesn't break battleforged status, similar to their apocalypse datasheet, and a points update. Holy hell acolytes are overpriced.

The SoS White Dwarf index is not very encouraging, though, that's for sure. I'm hoping that it's just something to get them by until a new Custodes (or Talons of the Emperor) codex adds them as a choice. Or maybe they really will do an Imperial Agends codex that has Inquisition, Assassins, and Rogue Traders (a man can dream!).

Just like the Ynarri dex was printed in White Dwarf before being added to the Phoenix Rising book; I expect that both SoS and Inquisition are getting the same treatment, though they may be reprinted as an Imperial Agents dex rather than a Psychic Awakening book.

Even if not, the Inquisition will get their exemption to the Battle Brothers rule when they are printed in November, and that is the most important thing they can do for Inquisition right now.

I don't want to lose any of the options we currently have, but it would be worth it if we could use Inquisitors in conjunction with their respective Chambers Militant. Ideally, I'd like something similar to Ynarri, where an Inquisitor can join a detachment without taking away Chapter and Order traits, or they can lead the detachment, in which case they confer their own special rules upon the detachment.

SoS was disappointing, to be sure, but they didn't have HQ units, so we were never going to get relics or warlord traits. Inquisition, however, DO have HQ units, which means they qualify for relics and warlord traits. If they give us said relics and warlord traits, it increases the likelihood that they'll also give us strats.

And either way, there will be content for the Inquisition and the SoS the Psychic Awakening- it's just a matter of waiting.

I find the idea of Inquisition being sent off to Warhammer Legend status hard to believe. IIRC, we did have the Inquisition logo listed on the Psychic Awakening faction list. Given that, we can put money on this being closer to the Assassin treatment in WD.

My primary wish for them is that they can be added into other Imperial armies without impact to the battleforged rule, and also without taking doctrines away from SM armies. Given background and lore, this would make a ton of sense. Since they aren't an incredibly powerful army, I don't think it would be game breaking.

No Pity! No Remorse! No fear!

Um, no. Precedent is the exact opposite - Crimson Fists WD rules were invalidated after 2 months, Blood Ravens didn't even last frakking 2 weeks, Ynnari are already reprinted in Phoenix, really, show me WD rules they printed in 2019 that lasted any sensible amount of time.

 Mr Morden wrote:

Wot?

Blood Ravens got frakking nothing (even considering their 'index' was toilet paper before the month ended). Angelos was FW character who got nerfed rules even compared to his already bad FW ones, and is unusable trash* in new Codex, relic is literally generic codex one, stratagem is terrible and completely useless against 95% of armies, the ""rules"" BR got show zero thought on how to make them compatible with SM codex that dropped just after them and even if they were still valid, you're better off literally making BR using custom chapter rules, purely from codex, never mind actually giving them successor bonuses too. What a great bounty!

*literally - his keywords make him illegal in SM armies...

They had them actually, acolytes. Yes, you needed to take Coteaz for that, but literally anyone running Inquisition did so anyway.

That was back when GW had competent rule writer who made rules without looking at models, focusing on army design instead.

That's what I meant. Codex Sisters of Battle, and White Dwarf Index Sisters of Silience and Index Inquisition means they can retire Index Imperium 2.

Everything not in a Codex can then be shifted to Legends. Matching up Legends with Chapter Approved 2019 will put everything on a even play field... Well as even as they can be with the new Space Marines running around.
