I only have the index but in it I cant really find scouts viable for their pts, the only exception being armoring them up and giving them heavy flamers and possibly a chainsaw to use as screeners and interceptors of fast assault units getting into your back line, I feel that when they move firing heavy weapons hitting on 5+ just makes them really hard to flank and not worth taking

On moon miranda.

Sentinels I assume? Unfortunately you're largely right, their viability is extremely limited for what they cost, particularly with the index costs. They're just not particularly good.

I think armored versions in the codex have a place as meatshields of sorts (6 T6 3+sv wounds with a Plasma Cannon for 40pts is a solid wall of wounds), but I don't rate Scout sentinels highly.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Cardiff

They lost their main niche when Turn One Deep Strike got banned.

Possible limited use vs Drop Pods now.

Tried using Lascannons on mine; a bit of a waste of time.

Gonna try bringing them as cheap as possible for Brigades and try using them to harass/distract enemy Troops.

Plenty of armies can now Turn 1 Deepstrike or equivalent. BA Captains, Orks Da Jumpin, GSC, Space Marines etc.

The other issue is marines now have prevalent units that will deploy close to your lines. And your "scout" sentinels may not even be able to use their abilities to move foward because of it.

And 99% of the time they are free kills for enemy heavy weapons as you try to hide your own armor.

Guard scout sentinels need to have their rules changed so they can be placed in the deployment phase just like other unit scouts. Our other alternatives are ratlings and they are in the same ballpark of liability as sentinels.
