I need to resurrect an airbrush that apparently wasn't well cleaned before being put into storage . I've ordered a new needle and nozzle, but for the rest, should I soak it in isopropynol? Or do you soak yours in something else?

Windex and a hydrosonic cleaner should sort it out, unless it has rusted.

Definitely no rust, as far as I can tell... just paint >.<

Lacquer thinner will probably take care of any dried paint, but don’t soak the entire brush in it, just put some in the color cup and let it work.

Avoid putting it in an ultrasonic cleaner if you can, they can damage airbrushes.

Are you able to open up the brush?

You may need to replace orings after leaving it to soak

Depending upon your comfort level I'd completely disassemble the airbrush and remove any O-Rings and non-metallic parts. Which is a perfect reason why a lot of airbrushes are, well, crap. Way too much plastic, After disassembly, all metal parts go into either Lacquer Thinner or even Acetone (the real stuff. Not Nail Polish remover ). Reassemble. Shoot Lacquer Thinner through it and inspect the spray pattern(s) for any abnormalities. Any decent Airbrush can certainly be resurrected.

Also a real handy trick is to never store the airbrush with the needle fully seated. NEVER. Before using remove needle ( takes about 2 seconds to do ) apply a little "face oil" from your forehead or the side of your nose to the needle. Reinsert and it should be ready to go.
