Greeting programs

I have been playing for many years one of the best "IMHO" Newtonian physics based space skirmish game originally made for Babylon 5 by agents of gaming.

It is even better since they have converted into every major scifi universe including battlestar galactica, star wars, star trek, wing commander and even macros/robotech. even better now it's all free for PDF download since the game contract expired back in the mid 2000's

With the release of star wars armada minis and star trek attack wing it is very easy to build up a fleet for those universes and there is also a dedicated miniature maker for battlestar galactica to boot.

I will post future related items in this topic.

cheers

I'm old and forgetful now. Is B5 Wars the original game by AOG that was followed by Fleet Action? Or was it the Mongoose followup to those? Or something completely different?

I believe it's the original one, with ship forms that looked like they were from Starfleet Battles.

Yes its the original AOG one, I also have the books for GROPOS that came out right at the end for ground combat before mongoose briefly picked up the property for their simplified fleet version of the game,.

I consider it akin to the classic battletech of space skirmish games. not as complex as starfleet battles but still complex enough that it has good immersion.

Always found Wars to bog down too much under the weight of detail, love ACTA though.

Well it is a skirmish level game if you go to big it does bog down, although using the star trek version of the game tends to not have that problem since it is far less small craft dependent and the ships are far less complicated.

the B5 universe diversity in technology while far more accurate can lead to a lot of different rules.

We tried both B5 Wars (thanks for the clarification on that) and Fleet Action in our home campaign run by a friend. My personal favorite was to use the bigger B5 wars ships and ship counts (one ship "squadrons") with the more streamlined fleet action rules and fighters.
