I still haven't fielded any of my Forge World that I bought last year, I still feel that in general its OP and not fair to field because of limited availability, but I'm starting to lose that impression.


In 2019 I bought and fielded.

2 sets of Proteus Pattern Chain Cannons (to use as Reaper Chain Cannons) ... this is as lilly white as my Type I Wave Serpents (bought 2 of these kits on ebay last year to complete my grav tank collection), so I really haven't put a pure Forge World model on the table yet.

I also bought

1 Contemptor Dreadnought
1 Deredeo Dreadnought
1 Leviathan Dreadnought

Other than building them I haven't played any of them yet. (oh yeah, and they all have storm cannons, which might be the reason I haven't put them on the table)


What Forge World did you buy in 2019?

AT Quake Cannon, Necromunda Bounty Hunters and a couple Knight Moirax.

All sorts of stuff, mostly 40k and some necromunda. Not really concerned about any of the rules. Buying is not the problem for me, getting the massive pile built and painted is.

A Carnodon battle tank. Pretty harmless compared to Leman Russes, but it looks really good. I also have an eye on the Malcador and Macharius, but they are a bit down my wishlist

A Relic Contemptor Dreadnought with 2 Dual Lasconnons, just a pure antitank machine

Bought a Warhound Titan during the summer, but it is still well down the build/paint list.

Got the Realm of Battle Imperial Strongpoint tile to use as a display board for my Sisters.

Haven't started on it yet though - need to paint the army first!

Main one was a lava and Carmine dragon when they went on to last chance.

Apart from some Titanicus and Aeronautica stuff through GW and Indies...nothing.

They have nice stuff, of course, but its just too expensive to justify a purchase. If the local GW store would spare me the p&p, maybe one or two items I would have bought.

Nothing recently. I keep thinking of picking up some new dreadnoughts to go with my Leviathan, but I keep hoping for one from a chapter that's a little more my style to make black and silver.

I don’t think it’s all that bad anymore. Most forgeworld stuff is pretty comparable in power to the standard stuff released. That said I havent bought very much. I play thousand sons though and I just painted up the legion osiron contemptor. I know it’s technically a 30k model but I just use it as a hellforged contemptor. It looks absolutely stunning on the tabletop.

Only FW I bought was secondhand (it is genuine FW and not a recast though), and it was a Leviathan Dreadnought with 2 Stormcannon Arrays. That thing is my MVP in many games.

I picked up the Dark Elf Tantalus an amazing model with terrible rules and a pair of Vultures great models with amazing rules.

I bought a revenant titan, a box of shadow spectres, a hornet, a wraithseer and 3 wasp assault walkers.I also bought a Battlesuit Commander Shas'o R'alai with Drones as a birthday gift for my brother.

The titan and shadow spectres are still to be painted, although I got 5 + exarch of them already painted.

I haven't bought any actual Forge World models, but I have converted several of them. That would seem to run counter to the whole "help me get over my aversion to FW/they're not really OP anymore right?" thing Sazzlefrats was after to begin with, but I built them for Custodes and their Codex range is in kind of an awful place. So less "FW models are stronger" and more "Custodes have significant holes in their model range".

(We play at 1000, Custodes have a hard time building a legal formation of any kind that far down, much less one small enough to soup in The Loyal 32 and still be worth doing at all.)

Early in the year (about Feb) I picked up a Termite Assault Drill. Summer I picked up a pair of Deredo Dreads (+all weapon options for each).
