Imperial Recruit in Training

Hello everyone, my name is Andrew- though, all of you can call me Cooommissair Macera. I'm new into Warhammer40k and am going for a Mechanized Imperial Guard Army. Currently, I have 1 Leman Russ Vanquisher, 20 Imperial Guardsmen, and 1 LasCanon. HOWEVER, I'm personally torn, if I should go for CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED or, the legendary Cooommissair Yarrick. Creed, allows me to use 3, THREE, Voice of Command Abilities(not mentioning a Vox-Caster)... So theoretically, I can use 'First/Second Rank Fire', and 'Take Aim', which can obliterate SPEEESH MARINES with overwhelming fire. On the Contrary, Yarrick seems to be a legend with CQC, allows him to even take a Power Sword hit with his Power Shield, and with 'Hero of Hades Hive', Re-roll all 1's.
IDK, I personally think that Creed is better, but Yarrick might be a slightly more powerful choice? Regardless, it feels nice to introduce myself to the community!

As Imperial Guard, one of those 20 dice you roll; one is probably a 6. |

Welcome!
My feeling has always been to make your own characters and count them as appropriate (with the right weapons and so on).
But honestly I'd say get a lot more bodies before worrying about a commander. Make the cake before picking the cherry to go on top.

Welcome to the forums!
As far as your HQ choice, I'm more of a 'rule of cool' kind of player. Nothing wrong with Creed but I think Yarrick is cooler. IMO if you go Yarrick, he'd be good with a conscript blob and some supporting artillery/armour. Otherwise I'd go Creed and full APC/tank playstyle.

Hi there, and welcome to Dakka.
I would say take Creed. I play an infantry IG army, and for me, having Creed and 3 company commanders, gives me a veritable TON of orders to give to my humble guardsmen.
I would also shorten the barrel on that LR, make it a normal battle cannon. The reason? Vanguisher fires only 1 shot. The battle cannon fires d6 shots, 2d6 if it holds still.
