Hi,

I have some deathwing terminators and want to expand my deathwing but not necessarily with more of the same. However I can’t see a massive difference between the different types of terminators. Wondering how people were getting on with using the different squads. I was thinking 1 squad of CAT all armed with lightning claws to teleport in for close combat and take some punishment. Some TAR with some fire power and my standard squad are a bit of both.

I don’t like the knights models so haven’t really considered them

I've just gotten back in to playing myself and have been looking at terminators.

Honestly, I think Cataphractiis are probably the worst melee terminator option for the deathwing. Their movement is only 4 inches opposed to the 5" of standard Indominus or Deathwing Knights or the 6" of Tartaros
Plus Cats have to halve their rolls for Advancing, which if they have lightning claws is what I assume you'd be doing every turn, where as other terminators don't.

If you are playing with points then Deathwing Knights are what i'd personally be going with for terminator melee option as mace of absolution are largely comparable to thunder hammers, albeit cheaper. If you're playing with power level or not worrying about it then Indominus squads might serve you better because of more options.
If you have/want to use Cataphractiis then I would personally keep the them with their basic load out of storm bolters and power fists and plant them near an objective or choke point. The higher invuln save means they're harder to shift, and what with the current state of bolters a squad of 10 can lay down a fearsome amount of shots.

Good points about the cats but I was thinking use the raven wing to get close to the enemy and then teleport in. I think the new pa rules allow you to teleport in 6” from the enemy Simone charge should do it..........
