Hey, I've never played a game of AoS - just wondering about people's thoughts about the Khorne half of the original AoS starter set.

Is it a good start? Is it a decent force?

Are there any critical weapon options that are in the standard unit boxes that are missing from the starter mono-pose guys - or is that not an issue?

My thanks

Khorne as a whole isn't too bad, but if you go pure Mortals like you get in the box they're on the lower end of army power for Sigmar. You'll want to add a Bloodthirster or two maybe. If you aren't interested in adding Daemons, I think you'll struggle to hold your own in an average level meta.

I dont know the faction well enough to advise on specific unit options though.

Khorne mortals is a very solid army actually, top mid tier easily, they win small events all the time, double move, double fight, fight from 6" away instead of 3", fight when they die, anti-magic, etc..

Its the daemons that are not good (basically any Bloodletter type of units) and Cav, otherwise they are just fine as mortals.

Now IDK what the Bloodbore box is, i know the Bloodbound, is that what you are talking about? this > https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Khorne-Bloodbound-Goreblade-Warband-2018 ?

If so that is an Ok box, you'll use some of it for sure like the Bloodsecrator (a must have Khorne unit) the bloodwarriors, and Bloodreavers too, also the Bloodstoker is fine to use too. Khorne really likes a priest as well and Bloodthristers.

Fair enough, must just be the lists I've seen!

Bloodthirsters are awesome though.

That's it - thanks. I thought it was Bloodborn for some reason... and then typo on top of that.

Well thats kinda the problem, to me competitive you need 3 Bloodthirsters, sadly. But they are really good lol. It just sucks that the Daemons are in such a bad state, even with the new Everchosen book it didn't really make them more viable, as i would love to play them as a daemon army. Heck, BoC as Khorne is better than the daemons.

Bloodstoker is great, actually: he’s cheap and adds heavy movement bonuses. Everchosen Varanguard or Archaon that have been teleported into range to charge? Blood Warriors that can run and charge in a mob? Yeah, he can be a highly usable option. Almost as necessary as the Bloodsecrator, list depending.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
