In ancient dug-out ruins from 1990-2010s on Terra, a bunch of Marines and Guardsmen dig out a load of dusty 40k TT figures, rule books, novels like HH.

How will the Imperial forces react? Think this is some sort of trick by Tzeentch?

A 'version' of 40k exists in-universe - Perturabo plays it with/against his command staff.

This is the second time I've seen this question today.

Correction Guardsmen and Marines are not likely to be digging up a ruin on Terra. That's Adeptus Mechanicus territory.

The Adeptus Mechanicus would likely assume that they were created by psykers who prophesied the 41st Millennium. Also they likely would covet any of the books that have yet to come to fruition.

Figurine wise they might destroy any of the Chaos ones as potential conduits for the Chaos Gods.
