I need 6 Missile Drones to complete my Tau army, and am going to convert, just need a "top part" for the drones.

I was thinking the top of Citadel paint pots would work and look decent, but I dont know what material they are made out of (rubber??).

Do you think the caps will take primer, be paintable, etc?

It does take on primer but its flexibility causes them to chip and peel off.

I wonder if theres any treatment I could do on them to make them inflexible prior to priming...

Like dousing them in super glue

Paint top drones. that's a genius idea!, i wonder if you could fill the inside with green stuff to make them more ridgid.

4th company 3000pts
3rd Navy drop Command 3000pts air cavalry
117th tank company 5500pts
2000pts

That was my plan. I cut off the top cleanly, then cut off the little "paint spoon" that hangs from the middle of the top lid, then I'm gonna fill it with green stuff, and superglue that to the missile pod model with some kind of connector.

If you look at the top of the paint pot, it even looks sorta Tau-like, with the oval design.

Here's what it ended up looking like from a couple angles
The front profile is jarring due to the size differential between the pot and the missile pod. Believe me, it looked even more jarring with one of those single 3 dot missile pods, so I used a Smart Missile 6 dot box leftover from Riptide bits.

I think the side profile looks kinda cool.

For the connector, I glued two Pulse Carbines together, sanded the edge flar, glued that to the box, cut to fit for a length I felt was appropriate, then shoved that into a bunch of green stuff in the middle of the pot.

Good enough for me..I just want those missile drones to play with without buying a new Broadside (my Broadsides are old school Crisis models with a metal set of rail rifles mounted on top)

Unless you're planning on bending your model, what difference does it make if its flexibility causes paint to chip?
