So I need some opinions on this list as I'm at the point where I'm about to start buying models. Would this work well? I'm not expecting super competitiveness but if there are any glaring problems I'd rather change things up now. Basically the Gallants charge up supported by the flyers whilst the Crusader sits back and shoots protected by a majority of the scions.

Made a few changes to the list. Namely dropping the Valkyrie and officer of the fleet in favour of two tempestus command squads with all plasma. I'll likely keep all my scions in reserve and then deep strike them. The extra range will allow me to use first rank second rank on the troop squads to throw a ton of shots at screening units, hopefully clearing them. The other order will likely be take aim on the plasma squads to reduce overheat deaths. Again thoughts and comments would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm still playing around with Scions so not sure what suggestions to give there yet, but you need the Huntsman's Mask Relic on your Crusader. It's so much better than Endless Fury

I believe armor of the sainted ion, landstrider, and at least one valkyrie rather than vulture would greatly augment this list.

Yes the vulture whilst cool has really been nerfed. A Valk with slightly less firepower (2 MRL, 2 Hve Bolter, 1 multilaser) and transport 12 with the ability to drop troops after moving is a mere 137 points. Your quad MRL, 1 Hve Bolter Vulture is 40 points more. Take the more common gatling vulture and its 58 points more. The options the transport ability give you, especially with Scions, make it not much of a contest...

Hey guys, thanks for the input! I like the idea of changing up the traits and relics, I'll take a further look at that!

As for the vultures, I took them over the valks as the missile pods are assault and the vulture gets +1 to hit against non flying units. That means I'm getting 4D6 shots hitting on a 3+ and I don't have to enter hover mode. The valks only get +1 if they go into hover mode so they lose their -1 to hit (unless I use the strat) and they'd still be hitting on 4+ with a majority of its weapons. I know they have a transport capacity but I was thinking of deep striking all of my scions anyway so I'm not really using transports. Still having the versatility might be good, I'll have a think about it. Thanks!

If you take stormtrooper doctrine, my hands down fav doctrine, look carefully at what you can do with your 2 squads of command plasma if you drop them with the strat 5.1 inches from the enemy -- and usually, in range of something you care to kill, in short range, and fire at +1 to hit, with the temp. prime providing rerolls. Each natural 5 are 6 you roll gives an extra shot, and even each 1 you roll only causes a miss 1/6 of the time. Also, I strongly advise using 5 man squads for all your scions. Drop detachment -1 cp, and field commander -1 cp, are critical here.

2 command squads of scions fire 16 times should hit around 22 times, with no casualties from plasma. Its like being given a free third command squad -- and your enemy, seeing it exists, is now forced to position things on axis of advance that only the drop troops could POSSIBLY reach on turn 1. For elite armies, they are stuck often choosing between being where they want on deployment, OR blocking your knights' advance lanes in front, OR keeping the back and side doors safe.

Its also possible to throw 10 normal scions into the bird and that same commander, and come out on the other side double firing at short range against screens -- each 4 man group of hotshotlasguns will put out 16 shots, adding shots on 5 or 6, and thus your 10 scions armed only with 8 hotshot lasguns and 2 hotshot laspistol can fire 34 times, and hit, on average, 40 times. Split that fire carefully and back it up with the guns on the valkyrie(s), and you can shred 5 or so units of screen gaurd or fire warriors, etc. Just poof.

I see no reason why you would pay so much for the extra 2 shots per vulture, ish, when you can drop troops like this in the enemy's face as a turn 1 attack, and especially when you can do so using the free 10 scions you got by not buying the vultures.
