I'm starting up a Sylvaneth warcry band and I have inspiration to do them in a Redwoods theme. Here's a picture of some:

I need some help figuring out what colors/paints I'll need. I'm hoping I can make the basics of this fairly simple to execute since I'm pretty new to painting and I want to get these on the table fairly quickly. Ideally this would be the big areas being a couple thin coats and a wash, or like a couple contrast layers or something. But I'm open to doing new stuff. So, the questions:

For the basic bark color, I need a reddish brown, that's not super dark. I'm most familiar with painting contrast so far so I was thinking maybe a red coat (flesh tearers? or maybe something non-contrast) then a coat of wyldwood on top? maybe the lighter cygor would work better? Or would this be better done with brown undercoat and a red wash?

What would be a good way of doing the "glowy" bits that are inset in some of the bark? I'm thinking about a red here, but I don't want it to end up looking too sinister.
Do you think that the little sprites should stick to a reddish, or should they be a contrasting color, maybe green or blue?
And last, I'm actually thinking golden/wheaten colors for the kurnoth/treerevenant weapons. Yay or nay? The other option I'd been thinking more of a flater green.

For a nice reddish brown you could use Citadel Doombull Brown over Citadel Rhinox Hide and highlight with either Skrag Brown or Deathclaw Brown highlights (both by Citadel). The bark can be done fairly quickly by using Rhinox Hide as an undercoat and dry brushing the lighter colors on top.

Since gold is a warm color, I do think that it would work well with the reddish brown bark. For the glowy bits, I'd probably use a cooler color like blue, purple or green. As for your technique, you could use NIghthaunt Gloom, Nihilak Oxide or Hexwraith Flame over Corax White. If you decide against those colors, you could use contrast paints diluted with contrast medium over a Corax White base to do the glowy bits.

As for your sprites, I do think green or blue would work well.
