Hey everyone. I love this forum page. Talking about the hobby on other social media sites can get exhausting as it somehow always seems to drift into some irrelevant political topic. But using these more traditional forums sites comes at a cost because people seem to think these sites are abandoned (Many of them are) or just dead. So it doesn't help when on the front page in the about section the section still reads....

"The Warhammer Fantasy Battle Forums are consistently increasing in popularity and are almost on a par with our 40k forums covering the same large range of content with advice from some of the best tacticians the world has to offer."

With a link to the Age of Sigmar forum. Of course, the Age of Sigmar is not WFB and we have our WFB page that is distinct from AoS at "Warhammer Fantasy Battle Legacy Discussion" which I believe deserves mention. So why not change this section considering it's on the front page? Can you blame someone that thinks this site is dead when the About section likely hasn't been updated since 2015 and looks like it was written before AoS? Why not mention the growing community of Fantasy Flight games community and the growing WFB Legacy community along with the already large AoS community? People who like those games might be turned off by reading the About section and think this site isn't for them. Plus Legion, AoS, 9th Age and X-Wing are huge games and deserve mention. The front page is what is supposed to be what draws people in, at the moment it gives off the impression that Dakka is just a relic of the past, which it is not. But the front page isn't doing it any favors.

Dakka is a great alternative for people who want a place to talk about the hobby without the threat of politics or other controversies. So it needs to get modern to stay alive!

Agree with you and I have been working on rewriting sections of it for Lego's approval for a future update. Please feel free to share any and all suggestions you have here.

I suppose I will list them here.

1. Remove the "Army Profiles" section. There are no more Army Profiles
2. At the top, it should not read that Dakka is only a community for a certain amount of games. There ought to be a more general term.
3. A mention of the Hobby Blogs in the "Dakka Features" section along with the Player finder. Also, an encouragement for players to start their own blog. The player finder could be amazing if anyone ever used it!
4. Warhammer Legacy, Age of Sigmar, 30k, Infinity, Legion, X-Wing and the new Lord of the Rings games all need to be mentioned. Along with the new GW specialty games. As a side note, why in the world does Maelstrom's Edge get mentioned and have it's own forum but Necromunda and Titanicus don't? Those two are more popular than half of the other forums on the forums page.
5. Removal of the mention of Flames of War. I think Bolt Action is more popular for WW2 games nowadays anyway. Maybe it wasn't before 2015. Either way, FOW doesn't even have its own forum. Historical games should be listed as a feature though. Flames of War and Bolt Action should probably be mentioned by name but under the general umbrella of historical gaming.
6. Battletech should probably be mentioned (and should get its own forum) that's another game that is more popular than some of the other forums that get their own forum. It certainly is more popular than Maelstrom's Edge.
7. I think the "No-politics" rule should be mentioned. To me, that's a huge selling point. Most people today are tired of the endless stream of politics even if they don't want to admit it.
8. Would it be out of the question to think that each of the mods should be listed somewhere on the front page? I think things would be better if people knew who the mods were if they needed something. This suggestion might be more controversial.

I am sure you have already thought of most of these, but it might be nice having some of them down in one place. Thanks for working to get it updated!

Actually, there are loads of army profiles, but the link on the front page was going to a page that had been removed at some point instead of the Army Profile category page (https://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Army_Profiles) I have fixed this.

Well, this is awesome. I haven't ever seen this before. Thanks!

I’ll point out that Maelstrom’s Edge has its own forum here for a very simple reason - the game was created by some of the owners of this website.
