A recent project while California s on Lockdown.
The figs are part of Grippimg Beast's Saga range.
I wanted to try something different, so elected not to paint the cloaks as tartans. I figure these guys would be the poorest warriors and would have simple stuff.
So I went for a dingy grey-brown earthy look

I love everything about this project! I once built a bunch of kilted warriors out of Chaos Marauders and Mordheim figures with kilts out of Green Stuff. I asked a friend to paint them, and he managed the tartan much better than I would have. I think there's a good historical precedent for the saffron color you've chosen. The whole (fairly modern) "clan tartan" thing originated from distinctive regional sources for dyes; long before your tartan said anything about your clan affiliation, the dyes used said something about where in the highlands or islands you were from.

Are you planning any more?

Not for awhile. In the middle of a Macedonian project.

These archers were to flesh out my Kingdom of the Isles list for a follow up battle to one I posted a battle report on this forum awhile ago:

My older brother painted the old Ral - Parrtha figs. I like the fact that one unit is all lefties.
I did the others, which are mostly Gripping beast
