Hi all, Here's my list that I'm trying to get done within the next month. Metal models only! My pile of unassembled stuff is big enough. I'm cutting out that step here. I'm hoping it's decently strong, I'm sure I am missing some glaring weak points, and would appreciate feedback. It's a Steel Legion non-mechanized list. So, I replaced the vehicle armor part of their doctrine with the cover saves one, keeping the same 18" rapid fire component. Custom Doctrine: rapid fire at 18", count as in cover except when Advancing. Tempestus Doctrine: +6" range to rapid fire units (hot shot lasguns rapid fire at 12" instead of 9", plasma guns rapid fire at 15") Battalion Commissar Yarrick 100 Company Commander, boltgun, power sword 35 Command Squad, 4 plasma gun 68 Astropath 15 Special Weapons Squad, 3 plasma gun 45 Special Weapons Squad, 3 plasma gun 45 Special Weapons Squad, 3 plasma gun 45 10 Steel Legion, boltgun, plasma gun, lascannon 63 10 Steel Legion, boltgun, plasma gun, lascannon 63 10 Steel Legion, boltgun, plasma gun, lascannon 63 Heavy Weapons Squad, 3 lascannon 63 Heavy Weapons Squad, 3 lascannon 63 Heavy Weapons Squad, 3 lascannon 63 Battalion Company Commander, boltgun, power sword 35 Company Commander, boltgun, power sword 35 Command Squad, 4 plasma gun 68 Command Squad, 4 plasma gun 68 10 Steel Legion, boltgun, plasma gun, lascannon 63 10 Steel Legion, boltgun, plasma gun, lascannon 63 10 Steel Legion, boltgun, plasma gun, lascannon 63 Battalion Tempestor Prime, command rod, chainsword 40 Tempestor Prime, command rod, chainsword 40 Tempestor Prime, command rod, chainsword 40 Tempestus Command Squad, 4 plasma gun 80 Tempestus Command Squad, 4 plasma gun 80 Tempestus Command Squad, 4 plasma gun 80 10 Tempestus Scions, 4 melta gun, plasma pistol 131 10 Tempestus Scions, 4 plasma gun, plasma pistol 119 10 Tempestus Scions, 4 plasma gun, plasma pistol 119 10 Tempestus Scions, 4 plasma gun, plasma pistol 119 1989p 3+15 command points

First off, the tempestor primes with a command rod and chainsword, cost 40, not 45.
This gives you 15 = 1 astropath, I recommend either malstrom for offense or the aegis (to stack with cover for a +2 save on troops) .. but for a gaurd horde list like this, removing enemy cover saves will often double your line troops' effective firepower.
Also note that Yarrik's 4++ can be a 3++ if you hit him with aegis, turning him from a beastly hard to kill melee monster into an implausibly tough soldier of last resort.
I love Yarrik in a plasma heavy list, I love the scions you have adn think the pick is solid (although I prefer iotan gorgonnes for a no-valkyrie list, because you will often find a marine player screens the whole damn board with scouts and forces even your 15 inch ranged plasma WAY far from anything you want to kill)... So I like this list but the astropath is an easy add that doesn't require any otehr models to be changed, at all, and stacked saves plays to the subtle strength of your custom doctrine.

Thanks for the feedback. I was under the impression that one of the Chapter Approved points updates increased the command rods from 'free' to 5 points.
I like the astropath idea a lot and I think I will try to incorporate one or possibly two.
EDIT: looks like I got the base cost wrong for Tempestor Primes.
