During the free time I've had recently, I've decided to get back into the hobby and start a new P&M blog with some Imperial Fists.
It's been about 5 years since I was into the hobby properly and as such, I am starting with no models, or paints so everything is from the ground up, it's going to be interesting seeing if my painting skills are still up to scratch, but I'll let you be the judge of that.
I'm going to take this army 500 points at a time and not move onto anything new until the last section is built, painted and based, hopefully resulting in a fully painted 2000 point army sometime in the future (it could take a while)
Here's where I'm starting:
0-500 Imperial Fists List:
-Librarian in Phobos Armour
-Intercessor Squad: 5 Marines
-Intercessor Squad: 5 Marines
-Redemptor Dreadnought
-Eliminator Squad
----
Here's everything I'm working with, plus a few tools and glues etc.
(Extra points if you can tell what game I'm playing on the computer)
I started with the Easy-to-Build Redemptor dreadnought; I opted for this over the normal kit as it was a fair bit cheaper and this was the loadout I was going to use anyway. It's a nice kit to put together and seeing what it looks like without glue is useful, I've added a bit of green stuff to the leg joints and done my best to remove any mould lines.
The glue I'm using is incredibly annoying, very thick plastic glue that 'strings' the glue out, it's slowing my building way down.
ETB Primaris Redemptor Dreadnought: (I've left the arms detachable for now for easier painting in the future.
Next, I moved onto the Phobos Librarian, the model is very cool, again a simple build with no conversions, just a little green stuff to fill some gaps, I'm also using up my leftover green stuff from each stage on the bases of my models, this is a good way to save any waste and build up a textured base of mud for each model.
Primaris Phobos Librarian:
Last up I made a start on the Intercessors, somewhat intimidated by the kit I figured the best way to get into it was to just start, I built my first Sargeant, accidentally using an auto bolt rifle which I've since swapped out for a normal one. I've also got the Imperial fists upgrade pack so each model will be getting an Imperial Fists shoulder pad.
Intercessor Sergeant:
That's all for now, I'll be continuing on with the intercessors over the next day or two and have some more updates!
If you have any questions or comments then I'd love to hear them!
Thanks!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Update:
I spent a little of today finishing the first 5 man squad of intercessors, as well as swapping out the sergeant's auto bolt rifle for a normal one. They all have Imperial fists shoulder pads, other than that they are pretty standard builds.

More progress:
Got the Eliminators made up, went for Bolt Snipers on all 3.
Next up is a second 5 man squad of Intercessors, this time with stalker bolt rifles to help form part of a firebase, one these are made I'll crack on with painting the first 500 points.
I've been thinking already about what to add next and in the future to get up to 2000 points, some Repulsors are gonna be in there for sure!
Thanks for reading!

UPDATE.
I've been slowly building the rest of the Intercessors and getting everything based and ready to be sprayed (which should be today) then the fun part of painting comes!

Thanks guys!
I was a bit limited for basing materials and would have liked finer grade sand, I'm hoping to make then quite muddy bases with a little static grass afterwards to finish them off so I'm hoping it will work!
Next to get them sprayed and to find some brown oil paint and white spirt (stay tuned to find out what I'm gonna do with them)
Thanks!

Nice. One of my favourite SM chapters, looking forward to see them painted up.

Aw man, that stuff did my head in too. I just keep it around for big parts that need a wee bit of gap filling. Otherwise: I don't know if you used it in the before-time, but hunt down some brand of the purer solvent in glass bottles, 'liquid poly' or similar. None of the stringy filler; dedicate a regular paintbrush for it (evaporates right off the bristles afterwards, in my experience); job's a good 'un.

Yeah, it's been a nightmare to use, I'd much rather solvent and a brush, for the next batch I'm going to make sure I get some, now that they are sprayed I'm seeing lots of little strings of glue that need removing! Thanks for the tip! Automatically Appended Next Post: All sprayed up and ready to go!
I went for a grey basecoat (as this was the only type in stock when I ordered, but I think a grey base for a yellow marine should work quite well.
It's so nice to see everything get past the grey plastic stage!

Welcome back to the hobby, now is probably a good time with all the time spent indoors! You seem to have a nice clear plan too which usually helps with motivation. The armour on the first 5 is looking pretty nice already! Will they be getting highlights too?

Thanks for the comments guys! Really pleased with how they look so far.
-I'm going to put some more highlights on soon, then go for a layer of matt varnish, also need to sort the bases out.
-Really not sure about the camo cloaks, I love the grey geometric pattern but I'm not sure if that's beyond my skill but I think I'll give it a go!
Stay tuned for more soon!
Thanks

Nice work with the painting on the first models! Yellow was one color I was never able to really figure out how to get good results, so I've always enjoyed seeing other people manage so well.
Looking forwards to seeing more progress!

Great yellow and nice to see you put in the effort on the bases, as it really 'levels up' each miniature

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!
I've been doing a little more and I've got the Dread painted as well as the Librarian, I went for a standard 'cloth' type cloak on this guys, but I think I'll try grey camo for the Snipers,
Let me know what you think, they still need a bit more highlights etc but they are getting there!

Good progress. I like the warm look you have for your yellow. More gritty then a parade ground banana look.

UPDATE!
Thanks for all of the positive feedback!
I've finished the first 500 points, aside from a quick varnish and some static grass to finish off the bases! I'm going to use the paint-on Vallejo Matt Varnish as I've read this is more reliable than the spray-on stuff.
Next up will be another 500 points, not sure which direction I'll take the army but I'm going to get a Repulsor for sure and I'm really looking forward to painting that!
I'm very pleased with how the dirty yellow has come out, it's exactly what I wanted them to look like, tempted to get some black wash for the bases and guns as well as the feet to show up a bit more dirt and add a texture. Also, I was surprised how easy the camo cloaks were to do and I'm really happy with the look of those.
Let me know what you think, more coming soon!

Looking good tenclaw, you’ve really smashed out the 500 points. Will they be getting squad markings or something for their right shoulder pad?

Great work on the duller yellow. Fits the Fists more than really bright parade yellow. With a small force finished, it's only onwards and upwards from there! Any decision on what's next, aside from the Repulsor?
I agree with gobert's subtle suggestion on the right pauldrons. A little extra work goes a long way, and appropriate symbols on them wouldn't take too long. Unless you're free-handing.
