Well, our gaming group randomly decides who plays whom. And a deathwing player and I had our names pulled out of a hat for a 2,000 point match-up.

This was my FIRST EVER game with my 1000 sons, he was a veteran deathwing player. Although he had first turn I wiped him off the board in 3 turns while only loosing 14 rubric marines and a predator. I think I owe this to laying down 8 winds of chaos templates in one turn. I didn't even need my squad of rubric terminators I kept in reserve to counter any pesky deepstrikers he may have had.

As we each had low model count armies, so this was the fastest game of 40k I have ever played. It took us more time to set of the board.

Did he own no psychic hoods? How was he letting you get into flamer range?

I'd have thought he'd simply sit back and shoot you into little bits, until you opted to come into his assault range, where he'd powerfist you off the boards.

So more details would be interesting.

Psychic hoods dont work against thousand suns. They dont take tests to use their powers. As for letting the thousand suns get in flamer range? Thats just bad generalsmanship. Or a mistake in guessing 6 inches.

Psychic hoods work like normal against Thousand Sons. T. Sons autopass the test - they still take it.

Yup, the only time they (psychic hoods) don't work against Thousand Sons is against flamers, since it's stated that flamers "don't have to take tests" to use doombolt.

It says they automatically pass all tests, which means they still take them.

{insert joke about GW tzcrewing T. Sons, by making them psychic dependent and giving everyone else awesome anti-psychic abilities}

You know, psy hoods don't work every time. Even if he had a librarian, that's (potentially) 8 times per turn he'd have to negate the power. Odds just aren't that good.

Well, here is what my list looked like:

Semi-cheap deamon prince with stature, wind of chaos, flight, mutation, two close combat weapons, spiky bits, aura, and deamonic strenth.

I had two rubric squads in rhinos. Champs had wind of chaos, thrall, powerfist, mutation

One walking rubric squad. the champ had bolt of change, 4 thralls, damoic strenth, and a power weapon.

9 Flamers ( hardly used this game)

9 rubric terminators. Champ had a power weapon, CCW, and wind of chaos. ( hardly used this game)

Predator: Three Lascannons, Deamonic possession, parasitic possession, and mutated hull.

he got the first turn. He tried to use one landraider to shoot my predator, which stunned it (no effect do to wargear). Then he killed one rubric marine with a lascannon from another land raider. Following that he used four assault cannons from a terminator squad and two dreadnoughts to kill two more rubrics in cover.

On my turn, I Destroyed one landraider with my predator, killing two terminators inside. My deamon prince mopped up the surviors. I then ran a rhino squad up, dismounted, and cast two winds of chaos on a terminator squad, killing all five in it. My walking rubric quad used blot of change to down a dreadnought.

After that, he just didn't have enougth men left to eat through my rubric marines.
