OK, so I've settled on the name of this Inn, and some detail parts and a sign for this Inn.
Thank you to the guys who helped me out on this in another thread.
I am going to call it The White Wolf Inn. Situated somewhere in Middenland.
I'm going to be using the following parts (quicker and easier than scratchbuilding, and will look better than my efforts would) -
Decoration bits -
The Sign, will modify it slightly and remove the tabs on the bottom to make it more square, may also shorten the chains as it'll be suspended from a balsa beam. May have to get two and stick them together neatly somehow as I've just realised this is only one sided!! -
A shield to stick on one of the walls -
May stick this somewhere, possibly over the door -
The front door, that I mentioned in the OP, might remove the gargoyle -
Just need to purchase all those bits now...
Still no idea what to do for a base though, been looking for some styrene flagstones, to avoid scratchbuilding, but failed to come across anything inexpensive and useful so far.

Ooh, memories flushing back. Look forward to seeing how you get on.
I might have a similar door going spare... Automatically Appended Next Post: For the base, trampled earth would probably look best, make it look like a busy tavern.

Thanks. An earth base probably would look best.
The only way I can think of doing it though is using something like Tamiya diorama texture paint. I'm not sure I can make it look "right" though. Plus with the amount possibly needed that could get very costly. Other brands of similar texture style paint aren't all that less expensive either.
Whilst I could (presumably mixing it into paint or PVA) I'm not willing to use earth from outside where I live, even if it is free (for various sanitary reasons)...
No doubt something will spark another idea for doing a base though.
The version of this Inn I made back in the 90s had red flagstones patterned linoleum attached to thick card, as a base. The flagstones were way oversized. Lol.

If you have a look in model railway stores/websites, they often have a good range of textured plasticard that might work, cobbles, stones etc. Cheap and effective.

Thanks, I'll have a further look around.
To be honest the base, if I give the Inn one, will have to wait a month or so, having bought some materials/tools to start this off, this project has already burnt a bigger hole than I'd like in my current hobby budget.
Hopefully stuff will arrive next week and I can make a proper start on it.

If this is to be the first of many, and if the cobblestones or flagstones will be a unifying visual theme, maybe a texture rolling pin and some putty or clay would be a good long term investment.

That is an idea. Green Stuff World do such rolling pins. Probably the putty also. I know they and various places do kneadatite, aka Green Stuff.

Somehow this reminded me of ol' Neil Buchanan, who could make anything by dousing toilet roll tubes in PVA glue.
Although I think my templates may be wrong, as the bottom portion of each triangle, may have to be wider
Yes, I think you're right.

If so, I'm still stumped on how I would achieve that cheaply (and without it all falling off over time, as sand, flock etc. would).
If that's something you're after, it isn't too tricky. I use foamed PVC, but thick card would work, as would MDF. Foamcore won't have the rigidity to hold up over time. I bevel mine with a grinding bit on a Dremel, but you can do it with a blade. Sprinkle in lots of odd sized rock and sand, or fabricated texture materials, or chopped up sprue, etc., lock it all down with watery PVA, and paint/wash/drybrush. It holds up pretty well in gameplay, although there's always a little sand here and there when I transport them.
Glad your materials are rolling in, I'm excited to watch this thing start to take shape!

Looking good. Great to see it take off.

There's something I need to google.
Not sure I like how the witches hat roof on the tower sits, but it is what it is.
I think it looks decent, and the template pieces came together well, but then I'm not the one who spent time and effort focusing on the necessary details. What bothers you about it?

It just generally sits too high on the toilet roll inner. It's not very stable, and easily knocked out of position whilst it's in a loose fit.
I did plan on putting a hexagonal ring of 4.8mm balsa around the tower that the roof would sit on, but still overhang, but there's not enough of a gap between the tower wall and the roof to do that.
I'll stick a ring of styrene sheet inside it, which will slide nicely into the toilet roll inner, to help secure it better, if I don't glue it down completely.

For some daft reason I especially like the stone effect card on the chimney. I also appreciate the scale shot and, goes without saying, the general progress. Hope you can get the polyfilla without too much fuss.

Very close to the original design, and ever closer to completion!
Magnetizing parts for ease of storage is a clever idea, liking that. Cheers and good luck with continuing this build - but don't forget, sleep is important too...
