Cackling Chaos Conscript

After roughly 17 years have passed since my last active game of WH40K (Third Edition) and after several, failed attempts at getting back to the gaming table, I recently started, again, to build some armies. I wasnt completely out of the hobby but I turned to painting and collecting rather than playing games. Thus, I have a decent amount of minis on the shelf and I already started kind of an up-cycle project where I try to use as many of my already existing minis as possible (mostly older ones) to form a core for a few small armies.
Apart from that I am going to build a gaming table based on gaming mats and suitable terrain. Although I always enjoyed building my own, DIY-style terrain, a lack of time led me to the decision to use lasered MDF terrain for the beginning. I will try to update this blog on a regular basis and gather everything related to my terrain building in it. Have fun and please feel free to comment.
Best regards!

I moved to a new apartment which forced me to abandon my hobby activities for a few weeks. On the other hand I now have a new hobby room including space for a gaming table
Thus, I resumed my terrain work:
Completed two shipping containers:
and continued to work on the barricades. I wanted to give them a heavily rusted look so I thought that real rust would be an option to try out. I am quite happy with the result but will add more details and variation.

Added some flockage to the barricades in order to imitate some moss.

The weathering on the containers is looking excellent!
And I really like the rust and moss effect on those barricades.
Good job, keep it up!
Also glad you finally decided to get back into gaming after so long.
Hope you enjoy it!

Almost completed the strongpoint. Just need to add some minor details, give it a drybrush and seal it.

THX!
I like this stuff because its cheap and easy to build. On the other hand lots of filling is required in order to hide the joints and links.

Cool thread! I haven't jumped into the MDF world myself but it'll be interesting to see what you're able to make of it!

Only very little progress on the MDF terrain pieces. Just finished another shipping container:
On the other hand more Warcry terrain is on the bench. This is the set from the original starter box and I will paint it the same way as the defiled ruins in order to combine them for larger games, campaigns and so on...
