Basically Finns of DakkaDakka, how large is the 30k player base here? Is it big enough for one to invest into it, or should I just stick to 40k?

Depends heavily on WHERE you are. There's some around Turku, some in Helsinki and Kuopio has active player base as well. Best place would be likely Kuopio, then Helsinki/Turku(note this is my impression. I don't have any official data).

Kuopio has very active group with good gaming area so if you can go there you should have no problems.

For the record on 4.7 there's tournament in Turku with 12 players registered. Not much more than that fits to the gaming area though so don't think that's all there are(I'm not there for one!).

Depending on admission exam results, Tampere is also a wildcard.

No idea but if i had to guess not good areas. But as said that's quess. But those are far from existing groups which makes harder to start.

Would wait until you get there and scout area yourself. Maybe there are or maybe somebody wants to start given another interested.
