So I was on the internet, looking at stuff related to Warhammer fantasy, ya know, rules and such, and I came across the Warhammer armies project(which I am sure most of you have heard of), and they have unofficial army books for 8th(and their free). Something else that caught my eye was an unofficial 9th ed rules pdf. I looked in it for a bit also looking at the O&G(the faction I tell myself I play) army book for this 9th edition. And I wondering, is it any good? I'm hoping someone who has played with the rules could give their opinion on the rules, as I can't really test them out due to the virus.

The Warhammer Armies Project is around since 6th Edition, maintaining factions that were "lost" over time and added new ones

For a long time they were using the 6th Edition rules with some tweaks, I don't thing that they ever used the "real" 8th Edition as a base and the 9th is more like a further development of 6th Edition

I never played by their latest rules, but really liked the army books back than

Overall the rules are for sure worth a try

Your talking about the unofficial "9th ed" rules they have, right? I have heard a lot of good things about that edition.

I prefer early 9th Age, 1.1 specifically, but there are many post-Warhammer rulesets.
Warhammer Armies project has the advantage in that it is very inclusive, and those that agree to use it to explore uncovered areas of the lore love Warhammer enough that they will forgive any imbalances they find.

after all if you want to fight Ind versus Nippon you likely are a hardcore Warhammer fan.

I do like the fact that most armies in the warhammer world get some rules or are getting some rules in the future. The other thing that has caught my eye is that they include rules for many of the models added in AOS, and although I dislike the setting and simplified rules of AOS, the models are actually very nice, so having them included in these rules is a plus for me. 9th age is something I am looking into, but I was just wondering if Warhammer armies 9th ed rules are any good, not if 9th age was superior/inferior. 9th age does seem appealing to me, with an alternate setting as a starting point in case you feel the Warhammer world isn't appealing.

yes, just call it Warhammer Armies to keep track of the different 9th Edition rules set out there

and if you like the expanded armies from the old Storm of Chaos and Albion Campaign, it is the best you can get

I ran across the Warhammer Armies Project in 7e and liked a lot of their work, even though I never got as far as digging up minis for any of it. The original implementation for a lot of the human armies was copy-pasting the Empire list and adding a few unique units, I'm glad they've started to move further away from that.

I'm also enjoying all the public-domain named characters (Tomoe Gozen, Zhuge Liang, Rodrigo Diaz, Arjuna, etc., etc.)

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

I decided to take a look at their Ind army book. It has some unique units in it, and I couldn't find that much in common with the empire, so it is obvious they have indeed come far.

Ind would have as much in common with the Sigmarite Empire,as the Maurya Empire has with the Holy Roman Empire.
i.e pretty much none beyond a shared species.

Exactly. From what is saw, Ind has some cheap cannon fodder to eat the cannonballs shot at their large variety of unique characters. Which is not like the empire from what I can tell.

Ahh do they use a Mahabharata style mythic cycle type of Indian army then. Which would be very similar to other myth based factions such as Trojan War of Romance of Three Kingdoms. Trash armies of mooks led be buffed heroes?

I reckon a Warhammer not-Arjuna chariot would be a particularly dangerous opponent.

Honestly I think you should read it yourself, as I am terrible at figuring out the playstyle of an army by just looking at the book. They do have a lot of different elites of different flavors, but those are kinda expensive. I do think their playstyle has an stong element of using cannon fodder as some of their core choices are dirt cheap(not as cheap as skavenslaves, but cheaper that clanrats and the same price as goblins).
