The above spoiler has the video link that is being discussed.
I haven't really watched a lot of the Warhammer Youtube painting tutorials. I watch the Lumineth Ymetrica one as I am starting an army in those colors and don't really have a lot of experience with bright vibrant colors. That said, this video seems rather weak to me. I don't want to bag on it too much, and don't have a negative opinion of
GW painting tutorials. This one just didn't seem really go over much that anyone but an absolute beginner wouldn't know.
Peachy used very few paints in the video which in turn also didn't cover many techniques. I don't think much was added showing how to paint a spearman and cavalryman since most of it was the same process just showing where to paint. I personally thought the skeleton horde coverage was kinda applied weakly too. It looked fair from the front, but when we see the back of the model it was ghastly.
Personally, I was hoping the that the video would have covered the techniques in the Lumineth battletome in greater detail. For one, I wanted to see Skeleton Horde and Medium mixed 1:1 applied to see how the process looked in real time. I also was curious about the dark brown then gold layering of the armor trim that is also shown in the battletome. As well as a couple other items that I felt could have been expanded on in video form.
As I said, I haven't watched many Warhammer TV/Youtube painting tutorials. Even less since Duncan left. I felt that the Archaon video was outstanding. I kinda hope that they have one at that level of quality for Teclis too. I also remember a few videos being pretty good even if they only covered like a couple of items and didn't finish the model completely. I was wondering though; Is this level that Warhammer Youtube painting videos are at in general now? Or is this just a sort of hiccup in quality?
