Authority of the inquisition states that models with that ability may embark aboard any ‘Imperium Transport.’ I’ve been reading some conflicted opinions on this. If I am running a detachment of inquisition units only can I only have vehicles in that detachment that are dedicated transports or can it be any Imperium vehicle with the keyword transport?

There has not been such a thing as a 'Dedicated Transport' (i.e., a transport that can only carry the unit the transport was purchased for) since 7th edition. What unit(s) a transport may carry is entirely dependent on the keywords, transport capacity and any special rules.

In matched play you're still bound by the same rules as for what faction keywords can and can't be used for making a detachment. That rule comes into use more if you have multiple detachments, say an Inquisition detachment and an Adeptus Astartes detachment. Authority of the Inquisition would cover any vehicles of the Adeptus Astartes that it says it covers, and the people with the rule could ride in those transports.

It doesn't mean in matched play you can just suddenly stick a Rhino and a Chimera into an Inquisition detachment. Open or narrative play is a different story

There are no transports with the INQUISITION faction keyword, so there is no way to take one in an Inquisition-only detachment in matched play.

However, if your army has transports from other detachments then your inquisitor can get in them, unless they only accept certain unit types like Impulsors do.

There's the "Inquisition Land Raider Prometheus", from "Imperial Armour – Index: Forces of the Adeptus Astartes" - but that's Heavy Support, OOP and likely to disappear in the next FW book.

I REALLY hope it doesn't get cut.
They not only allow a mechanized or transport option, adding three to a list, possibly with two Inquisition Vanguards, so three of everything (max Acolytes, all with combi-flamers, at least for me) except HQs, actually means you can play in bigger games and still play mono Inquisition.

If it gets cut, a fallback position might be a stormlord group. Not quite as inquisitiony, but open topped.

Also, if you count the church stuff as inquistion in your head, your way is open to open topped sisters transports and a few nuns and crusaders to round out the inquisition into a solid army of churchly bureaucratic judge dredds.
