Has anyone tried using Bondic for glueing miniatures ot terrain? Seems like it might be good for old metal models with fiddly bits?

Reminds me of Greenstuffworld's UV resin, which is used for more decorative purposes but people do use it as an adhesive too.

I would say that this is similar and you'd have similar effects.
