We don’t need to go into details about what’s wrong, I just want to know who’s in charge of it. Somebody somewhere made it, and thus it stands to reason that they’re ultimately in charge of it. I need to talk to them about something.

There's three moderators to my knowledge (at least one of which is an admin), all ostensibly still active users here on Dakka (and one still over there, I think). Whether they'd care to be identified as such is another matter altogether.

gak, that place is still active? Amazing really. When Dakka banned political threads I looked over there, but it was just a bunch of jerk-offs that like to throw insults and bobblehead in an echo chamber.

I wish there was a forum that found the right balance of moderation. I always thought political discussion required "discussion", and not just blind adherence or you're ostosized.

Turning someone into a skeleton does seem a bit excessive.

Anytime someone brings up why can't we have politics/religious/etc discussion on Dakka the mods should just link to that site. Good lord that place is awful.

I skimmed the last 50 pages or so of their political forum to see if it was the same status quo. Heck no, it's worse now. Harassment, name calling, child abuse accusations, hoping someone gets cancer, laughing at someone with cancer, laughing at a user that just lost someone from cancer, strait up death threats, and my personal favorite advocating that tens of thousands of people with the "wrong" political opinion to be systematically murdered.

We've got a long-standing convention of not disparaging other forums here, so since the question looks to be answered I'm going to lock this thread to prevent more piling on.

That said, as noted above there is explicit content there and it is basically anything goes. MA-rating doesn't really cover it... so please keep that in mind and do not venture there unless that's the kind of content you're okay with encountering.

Additionally, if anyone ever does come across a more moderated space that we could point to for political discussion, I'm all ears!! The Wasteland ended up not being the best fit for the reasons listed above, and I'd be happy to point to an alternative if someone has a good (and already established) one in mind! If so, please PM me
