Thought this might be of interest to some here. Blood & Plunder is a historical skirmish game featuring pirates and seafarers in the Caribbean. It's designed to handle both land and sea combat, including amphibious and boarding action. They have a big range of metal figures and resin ships already, but their new Kickstarter project is expanding into hard plastic for both ships and crew.

The two player starter set is themed around the last battle between Edward Teach (Blackbeard) and Lieutenant Robert Maynard of the Royal Navy and includes plastic models for Teach and Maynard, and their crews, and two plastic sloops, as well as rulebook, playmat, cards, dice etc.

Holy smokes what a deal! Hard plastic sloop valued to about the cost of a GW Land Speeder? And shipping to the EU is a negligible $11.

Two ships and a crew for each for $119? Eat that, GW.

I already have the metal figs & resin boats, but I'm strongly considering getting this for the value that is in that starter set.

It never ends well

Wow, looks very tempting. I can't commit to any new game systems right now, but that looks like it could be a winner.

I’m in for the starter set and the fancy rulebook. I want more than that, but just can’t swing it right now.

One of them filthy casuals...

For anyone who's been on the fence about this game the KS is into the last 48 hours now with one more stretch goal to unlock (Plastic Cavalry). The box o' plunder now contains lots of cool freebies which have been unlocked by the various social challenges etc.

I was very keen to back this, although I am again late to the party having never played Blood & Plunder before. However, even if the game does not work out for me the KS had such cool stuff to use for other games it was not a hard decision to back.

Now though, the question is… what to add in the pledge manager before it closes. I have not been convinced by the soldiers, cavalry and Natives but I am rethinking it. I really would like to see sprues of these before deciding but I think the pledge manager will close before we see those. And I am thinking of getting an extra box of the named pirates for kitbash conversions. What do you think?

And we have the first photos of the sailor sprue in the recent KS update.

Is it just me or do they look a lot like a big Wargames Atlantic sprue?

It prolly looks similar because it's a good way to layer out a sprue, realistically.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

I was thinking more of the sculpting than the sprue layout. That and the style of the sprue itself, the markings and rounded shape of it.
