The other day I was going through the things I needed to build/paint and it staggered me for a moment. I know most gamers have a 'Pile of Shame', so what's in yours? List or post pics for fun.

Nice looking collection! It does help organizing, but with hundreds of models it's still a bit demoralizing lol.

Erm, probably about half my collection at the moment and too much to inventory without getting depressed.

I thought mine would be a lot, but it kind of relaxes me that others have much more.

I have:
5 cold ones and a Terranodon (just the animals)
A reaper Bones Terrorbird
20 Victrix Numidian Cavalry that are intended as riders
2 Numidian Warelephants with crew
A reaper Ankylosaurus I want to convert
The top half of a Baneblade I want to turn into a bunker/gun emplacement

A " bag of parts" intended for a kitbashing project that's waiting that some essential stuff comes back in stock in a bitssite

3 Heavy Ogres, a light and a heavy Buggy from Mortian.

All the official models I have are built, I just have the plasticard and bitzes to make a trukk, a magnetized buggy (KBB/deffkilla wartrike/SJD/MSJ) a magnetized ork flyer (with all the options) and I'm finally working to add proper deff rollas to my BWs. I've designed all this scratch built stuff ages ago but never actually started doing anything.

Unpainted stuff is the majority of my collection though. My entire SW collection is plastic grey (except one model that is finecast grey ): goal for 2021 maybe 2022 is to have it painted completely.

I've had a serious clear-out due to a house move so a lot of things that had sat in boxes for years (I figured if I hadn't got round to them by now..) were sold.

Although my wargaming miniature pile of shame has been replaced by a plastic kit pile of shame, which is my other hobby. Now that relatives/friends know that I do that it makes an easy gift and that pile has been growing far faster than I'm able to complete the things..

Thanks. I have a problem lol. Although I've also downsized a couple hundred models I had laying around. Just things I amassed in large army trades, stuff that needed stripped/repaired/repainted that I never got around to. Relatives and friends knowing about your hobby, and getting kits for you as a gift sounds great, but as you mentioned it would go downhill fast

At the end of last year, a made the same list about my pile of shame. I managed to have the discipline to take on one project after another. Some took more time than others, but slowly i made progression. Then came the lockdown and all the homework days , as a result, the only thing now on my pile of shame are:

-20 gargoyles
-1 1Ksons rhino conversion

and i'm quite proud of it . I'm planning clearing my pile by the end of next month.
I also came a long way, I painted 7 ork buggies, a couple of trukks, bags of tyranid hordes and beasts, a FW trygon, magnetised and painted a tervigon/tyrannofex, 2 sets terrain to FILL a 4X6 table (old size), 3 mek gunz, 60 genestealers+broodlord, 6 hiveguard, 6 tyrant guard, expanded my 1K sons killteam into a 2500k points army and all the other stuff i'm forgetting right now .

My pile is "finished". My own lack of ability to bring a color scheme I like on my last box of Vostroyans means it is sitting half done.

Everything else WH40K related is done, bar some basing. I'm happy with that progress.

I have some LOTR and some, what's it, 54mm? Inquisitor stuff left. Doubt I'll ever get around to them. Lack of conversion opportunities with Inq and the LOTR stuff sort of for my dad. I want to finish his WHFB stuff before I get on that. Dunno if I can/will.

We've long since passed the point where my pile of shame is measured in models. It's measured in armies.

Ignoring painting, and just looking at unbuilt, I have:

1. 30k World Eater army.
2. 30k Mechanicum army.
3. Adeptus Mechanicus army.
4. Genestealer Cult army.
5. Harlequin army.
6. Primaris Marine army.
7. Half a Deathwatch army.
8. Most of an Ork army.
9. Couple of thousand points of 'Nids.
10. Maybe 1500-2000 points worth of Dark Eldar.
11. Maybe 2000-3000 points of Daemons, including all 4 of the new Greater Daemons.
12. A couple thousand points of Craftworld Eldar.

And that's not even factoring in terrain, which is probably 5-6 6x4 boards worth.

Hmmm. I dont have anything unbuilt, one of my biggest problems is i build things too early and let them lanquish(I find building my favorite pare because its soo relaxing.

Oh sweet baby Jesus, where do I even start? Well, here goes...something.

To build:
Various Space Wolves, including one NIB set of Thunderwolf Cavalry and various Blood Claws/Grey Hunters/Wolf Guard/Long Fangs, depending on how I build them. Been waiting to see what shakes out as far as useful loadouts before I commit to gluing them together.
1 Battle Sisters Squad box. Like the Space Wolves above, mainly waiting to see what's good for Sisters before I commit to how I build them.
1 Seraphim Squad box. I think I know how I want to build these, but I've got other priorities at the moment.
1 Dark Imperium Inceptor Squad. My Dark Angels don't really need them as I've got 3 Bolter ones and 6 plasma ones, and my Space Wolves don't really need Inceptors at all, so I'm not sure what I'll eventually do with them. Might actually sell them.
2 Knight Castigators, very probably recast, missing a couple of very small parts. Yes, I know that's a taboo subject around here, but I got them very cheap from one of my friends (not sure where he got them, he didn't say and I'm not asking).
1 Questoris Knight from the latest Imperial Knights Renegade box. Technically I have both but one is in subassemblies and partially painted while the one I'm mainly talking about is still on sprues.
2 Armiger Warglaives. If and when I decide to continue work on my Knights collection and their Astra Militarum buddies, these will get some love.

To paint:
I've got several ongoing big painting projects, including finishing up the Marines half of the Shadowspear box (almost done, just a few very small touchups left on a couple of units), finishing the Sisters of Battle Army Set from last year (holy crap it's been a year since that box dropped?!), and painting the Indomitus Marines (everything's primed, haven't actually begun painting them yet). I'm also working on my Minas Tirith army for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, although that's a low priority, back burner project.
I have a ton of non-Primaris Dark Angels that need some paint, including several Razorbacks and like 50 Marines, plus a few angry washing machines (Dreads).
I still need to paint 7 more Ravenwing Black Knights. I did the leader and 2 others a while back, so I need to finish up the whole big unit.
I also have a lot of Deathwing that need paint. Now that Deathwing got a massive buff, they've moved up in the queue. Plenty of characters and stuff for them also need paint.
2 of my Dark Angels planes are partially painted and need finishing. Not a massive priority, but honestly I could stand to polish off a lot of partially painted stuff.
I've got some Astra Militarum that need paint if they want to join my Knights on the tabletop. One squad of Guardsmen is partially painted, but I've got 2 more squads plus a bunch of Mortar teams to paint, plus characters and a Leman Russ tank.
Lots of Space Wolves. The only ones I've got painted are some characters and a unit of Wulfen, and I've partially painted the old metal model of Logan Grimnar. I've got a ton of both vehicles and infantry that need paint.
Basically all of my Sisters of Battle. I've painted the Battle Sisters, Repentia, and Repentia Superior from the intro box, plus a Dialogus, Celestine, and her Geminae Superia, and I've started painting the Seraphim from the box, but otherwise nothing is even painted.
Several small armies from Middle-earth need paint. Besides the aforementioned Minas Tirith, I've got Rohan, Dunharrow, Lothlorien, and Khazad-dum for the good guys (plus some Woses), and I've got Mordor, Easterlings, and Moria for the bad guys (most of the Moria guys are actually painted though, albeit poorly as they were some of the first models I ever painted when I was a teenager).
I have a couple of starter sets for some other games, including Guildball and Dark Age. I also have the Star Saga game, and Blackstone Fortress (some of the BSF models are painted, others WIP, still others only primed).

Phew, I think that about covers it. My pile of shame is truly mountainous, but I'll eventually get it all done. Eventually. At least I keep telling myself that.

I usually tell myself I'll get through it eventually, or get so disgusted with portions of it that I trade/sell it and start a new army. Thus the vicious cycle continues. Though in recent years I've become much better about dumping whole armies

My pile of shame has increased with the addition of the indomitus box. Nothing is painted but the marines have been assembled.

For AOS:
Ogors - 1 butcher, 1 slaughtermaster, 1 frost lord on stone horn. I've got 20 grots that need to be painted too. It's about 3,000 points of Ogors, I can see the finish line but I need more behemoths as foot Ogors are not as good as beast riders.

Nagash - 1 vampire lord on zombie dragon (Zacharius).

Slaves to Darkness - 10 chosen, 5 Knights, a mutalith, and 2 spawns.

Space Wolves - 1 flyer and Leman Russ with his dogs (the super old rogue trader model, not the FW model), and 3 rhinos. It will be 5,000 points of wolves done!

Dark Angels - 10 man volkite squad, Cypher, 2 rhinos, the marines from indomitus, squad of Tartarus, and a Crusader. This is my 30k/40k army. It's pretty big - it's about 300+ men and tanks. Both Heresy and Primaris.

Death Guard - just base 3 body guard, 14 plague marines (8 hth, 6 bolter), a PBC, and 2 haulers.

Word Bearers - 1 start collecting box, 10 raptors (5 are conversions from grey knights with possessed wings), and a Land Raider. I need to do lots of repairs to this army as its been in storage for a long time and wasn't stored well. The defiler fell apart, the dragon wings fell off and about 25 marines are in pieces.

Custodes - in the middle of painting now. Finishing up 20 Custodes and 6 bikes. And Trajann is in a box. I want to get some sisters of silence for cheap objective holders.

Terrain - War Cry Terrain (assembly too!), a maw pot, some spells, etc.

A great many things...

I only buy models that I want to assemble and paint these days.

The last "pile of shame" I had I gave away (ALL of my 3rd edition rulebooks and codices).

Let's just say....stuff dating back to purchase during 3rd edition 40k.

Everything is my pile of shame. I don't think Ive fully painted and based a mini ever to completion.

I enjoy assembling minis. I would rather burn my entire collection than paint tho. I blame the paints for repeatably fething up when stored on putting me off painting for life. Sure I could try different brands but the damage is done. I no longer enjoy painting and legitimately want to break and bin my stuff when thinking of shelling out to replace paints again and again.

I don't game in stores so its not like anyones gonna see my grey/metal collection anyway.
