This popped up on the GW Facebook pages an hour ago and doesn't yet seem to have a page on the community site

A more ergonomic and slimmer upper segment on a slightly taller handle allows better access to the underside of the model for painting.

It was rumored at Christmas that the new multi-boxes were to get rid of the older stock - then the individual ones came back.

I’ll have to see one in person. The taller design makes me worried it might tip over easier.

Interesting.

However, with my shovel like mitts, will probs snap up the existing ones whilst I can, as I’ve had no problem with the grip.

I'll agree while it might give better access to the underside, it's going to fall over more (and maybe break if dropped

Of course not - it's a Primaris Lieutenant. (...I'm not actually sure on this, base size seems small...)

Maybe the bottom is weighted

I did see something on Twitter earlier about this releasing alongside some form of sculpting lubricant - something to stop tools from sticking to Green Stuff when you're working with it, or something like that mind.

At least, that's what I assume the person was talking about...

The current one is weighted, I assume this will be as well, but the higher center of gravity will still make it easier to tip.

That said it is essentially emulating many of the other market options which are almost worse in that they are just a straight stick. With this I can see the idea is that you've got room to hold the bulb and then the thinner neck lets you curl one hand around the other but still get close to the underside of the model.

I’ve got a bunch of the old ones. Don’t see the need for an upgrade, they work just fine. Will be interesting to see what new features make this one so good we need to go out and replace the ones we have.

I'm more curious if the top clamp has been altered to perhaps something screw based rather than simple spring torsion, especially as it's very tight on larger base sizes (and base sizes continue to inflate)

I don't even use my existing one as often as I would have hoped. No need for a new one.

Clearly, they've missed a great marketing avenue by not including one!

Each iteration becomes more and more and more a thing you'd typically buy at a different sort of specialty shop where you pay top dollar for expensive cast polymers.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I use the original handles quite a bit for any mini that I glue to a base first. I think they are pretty good honestly.

Really a decent tool to have.

I do not have an older model (or ever used any painting handle) but from just a look at this new one I think that older one is actually better to grab and hold with a hand.

I've got the original and I find it pretty handy on the rare occasion I actually paint anymore.

I don't see why they felt the need to revise what is essentially a stick though. The original is plenty comfortable to hold.

They might have jumped the gun with it - considering that the FB post went out without any corresponding community post. I did think it odd at the time; perhaps a release for next week and someone got date wrong.
