Been Around the Block

Long time since I have posted on a forum, but here goes. Thought there might be some interest in my latest WIP project, I felt I needed something big and as I build Orks I thought it was time I had a gargant. Now my army is never going to be on a table as I don't play 40K, it is just a modeling project. I do like to keep it real and possibly playable, but nothing is built to give gamming advantage it's just for visual appeal. I had been looking for a suitable body for ages but nothing grabbed my fancy, so I bought a bucket. Then on the way home I stopped at a opp shop and there it was.

back of a toy dump truck, looks great for the basis of a gargant! How big is it - can you chuck an ork boy in there for scale?

Size is good to me, but that seems to vary on the interwebs depending on your definition of a Gargant.

A great base for a gargant, although it feels a tad skinny. Not sure how to go about it, but you could try and build out the bottom with more armor or machinery.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Yes he does look a bit thin, but I like the way it is coming along. I still have the bucket so I may do another more traditional shaped one in the future.

Looking really good! It's a bit skinny but looks properly orks especially as more bit start to stick out the sides.

I wonder if you were to cut a ring off the top of the bucket (or bottom if it's upside down) and then attach that around the bottom of your gargant, and then put a battlement around it - it would widen the gargant and make an awesome place to put models shooting off! plus more space for turrets!

Biged has been motivated by Gobsmacker's iron capped boot, to get stuck back in to his Gargant. He didn't like the wheels it was on so he found himself a nice tracked base to plonk it on, much better. Still needs a bit more Dakka and Gubinzes and rivets, but he needs a bit more motivation. Ang on here comes the Boss again, and he's got his spikey boots on this time.
