This will be my hobby blog for my home brew chapter the Phoenician sentinels. The scheme is based on the veteran Intercessor scheme of the Ultramarines as I am quite partial to it. I'll add plenty of fluff and pictures in here as the project progresses.

Hope someone enjoys my project!

-------------------

The Phoenician sentinels are an Ultima founding chapter who have been in existence for several hundred years since the indomitus crusade reached out to liberate swathes of the Imperium that were in disarray after the great rift tore the galaxy asunder.

Created by belasarius cawl by order of Robute Guilliman, the sentinels began life as a unified codex compliant chapter and joined battlefleet Hasteus as they were tasked with clearing
The chapter first saw action in the Sundari system where the battlefleet encountered a cluster of world's already under the thrall of a renegade warband who had built a substantial power base there. The sentinels quickly proved themselves in combat against the heretic space marines and won a series of crushing victories.

After the pacification of the system the crusade moved on and the sentinels moved on with it.

Officially a blood angels successor chapter in Imperial records, they do however share some similarities with one of the pre heresy legions which has drawn the attention of certain inquisitorial agents. However the sentinels record in battle and roll of honour of which other chapters would be proud.

Gorgeous creamy white against that really unique reddish purplish... I can't tell whether it's more red or more purple! And that's a great thing for a unique scheme.

I’ve got to agree with gwyn, the colour combo is great. I love a possibly tainted loyalist army, what’s their chapter icon? It looks quite imperial eagle the bit that we can see... is it freehand or sculpted?

Cheers guys yeah it's actually barak nar burgundy which has been recess shaded with black Templar contrast paint.

The chapter symbol is actually the pre heresy emperor's children transfer sheet from forgeworld. I really loved the detail provided and the amount of very cool unique transfers.

Anyways here is another unit...

-----------
Chapter structure.-
The Phoenician sentinels are a non codex compliant chapter and have forged their own way of waging war since the indomitus crusade.

During the purge of the Hendaris cluster, the chapter encountered stiff resistance from an iron warriors warband who had massive numbers of both cultists and heretic Astartes. As a result, companies of space marines sent in against specific targets were often not enough and multiple companies would act in concert to defeat the enemy utterly.

Because of this, the chapter command decided that a system of "cohorts" should replace the companies who often found themselves outnumbered heavily.
Each cohort numbers approximately 200 battle brothers and although less able to split their forces up the sentinels can be assured that when a cohort is sent to battle they will get the job done.

Very nice Marines. Crisp paint, sweet colors. I like the helmets on the BGV.

It is a beautiful color scheme. The name, color, and chapter symbol are highly suggestive. Clever of you to work all of that in.

Redacted by Inquisitorial Order.
Spoiler:
The Phoenician = One of Primarch Fulgrim's nicknames/titles. The III Legion Emperor's Children colors were Purple, Black and Gold, and the only legion allowed to use the Emperor's personal symbol.

They’re cool helmets on your blade guard, where are they from? The forge world transfers really are cool, it’d be good to see them from different angles once they’re all transferred up

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

Squad Antius of the Shadow Cohort.

The 6th Cohort of the Phoenician sentinels is the Shadow Cohort. These Astartes are specialists in covert operations, infiltration and deploying behind enemy lines.
The Shadow Cohort have painted their armour in a deep matte black and have eschewed the characteristic white helms and shoulder trim of the chapter. Instead they have a single shoulder pad and knee pad in the burgundy of the sentinels and have some other markings which distinguish them but also do not compromise their covert appearance.
Sergeant Halderan has the embossed sunburst symbol on his left pauldron which denotes his rank.

The Shadow cohort act in support of the others and squad Antius were attached to the first Cohort during the campaign against Renegade Astartes in the veridius system M42.

Cheers dude is scale 32 matte black I believe! I also use it to ring all my bases.

All Phobos, scouts etc will be in the black of the Shadow cohort.

I love alternate paint schemes for Incursor/Infiltrator/Phobos marines, and these guys exactly show why. Very well done! Very effective colour scheme switch-up here.

Thankyou!

I have painted another member of the first Cohort... My captain, as yet to be named.

Part of the chapters inner circle, captains know more of the dark history of the sentinels and of the origin of their Geneseed. The inner circle of the chapter work ceaselessly to ensure that the Phoenician sentinels roll of honour is utterly exemplary and that everything they do is to the highest standard. By doing this they hope to avoid any scrutiny from outside agencies into their gene lineage.

Lovely colour scheme you've got going on here, and I especially like your use of the Scars helmets, they've got some great character to them.

Cheers for the positive feedback guys, I recently finished another 5 assault intercessors and took a little group shot. Up to 540 points done now.

I will get a proper picture with the Shadow Cohort infiltrators in at a later date!

I have been painting again ...

Here are my eradicatiors.. Squad Drakus.

They still need transfers so bear with me there. Happy with how they are turning out though and I have some ideas for how they will run on the tabletop.
I want to run them as quite assault based and have picked up the blood angels codex for that reason.

I've also been busy building other stuff. I bought 2 indomitus halves so I have a load of assault intercessors left and have been converting them into normal intercessors with bolt rifles, I will get pictures up eventually.

These boys look great! How do you do the bits of brown around the tufts? Is it pigments or just a heavy dry brush?

Cheers! Yeah I use a pigment called Vietnam earth.

Here's the link.

You literally just dry brush it lightly onto the surface you want and then I add a great gift on top.

So I basically started working on my impulsor and managed to absolutely bitch building the top panel bit with the shield some bit on. I then proceeded to undercoat it which went all fuzzy and terrible.
My next step was to put it in dettol to strip the paint off that top panel bit in not sure what happened and it turned out absolutely horrible. So to that end I've thrown away the top plate of the impulsor and bought a full armoured resin compartment for the rest of the impulsor which is actually ok.

Got it from here and it looks very cool indeed. Cost 22 quid shipping it from the US but I think it's worth the cost to salvage a very expensive miniature and also to add ton the cool look of the mini!

----

In other Phoenician Sentinels news I took a quick picture of the "army" in the display cabinet so far.

I didn't make much effort to actually get them all in a lightbox etc just a quick snap to record my progress. Things are starting to take shape.

Not sure how much hobby I'll be doing in the next week or so but I will endeavour to update the chapter fluff which I have been meaning to do for a while.

Merry Xmas everyone, the emperor protects.
