In the warp, searching for Marbo

I've decided to finaly dip my toes into the swirling, bloody pools of chaos, and have decided on Alpha Legion for my army. I'm a bit lost in all the options, but I've searched up some lists and tried to figure out what I want in my own. I'd like to be mainly foot, and as Alpha I should at least lean a bit shooty. I don't really have any interest in the Bike head hunter or Khone Berserker tactics that 1d4chan suggested though. This is what I've made so far, and I would like some advice.

I've been playing with Power Level for the past two years, so that's what it's built around, and since it's my starting army I'd like it to be Take All Comers in style. Not something made for competition, so I don't want to get cheesy. Also, I don't really know what marks to go with just yet, as I'm still trying to figure out the codex

General tactic Idea: Bubble wrap the demon prince and march forward while the Lord babysits the CSM and Havocs. Position the Chosen as necessary, and deepstrike the Obliterators where needed.

After all these years of searching for Marbo...he found me. Heretics beware! He's back!

Some quick thoughts...

With 30 Cultists, you could use 3x10 man squads. That would fill your Troop requirements, and you could then take things that aren’t CSM Like another unit of chosen or something like that. It makes your Cultists more survivable against blast weapons, gives you greater flexibility with deployment, speed bumping... lots of good reasons to break them up.

Marks of chaos have a significant impact on Icons that can be chosen, but also the stratagems that can be played on them. For example, there’s a fight twice (Infantry only) strat, but only Mark of Khorne. There’s also a shoot twice strat, but only Slaanesh.

So if you had a couple of choppy units, mark those Khorne. If you have some shooty units, mark them Slaanesh. If you were using a sorcerer, there’s a cool Tzeentch Strat you might want to mark for, and a buff power that can only effect a Tzeentch unit... so you might mark a unit to be able to be targeted by that power.

That’s what I see the Marks as being significant to.

Hey man, played a lot of Alpha Legion over the years, they're fun and you can play them in a few styles. If you fancy a shooty list I've got a few thoughts:

1) you have a lot of units competing for the same role in the chosen, havoks and oblits. They all pop in, shoot twice and then get shot off the table. You can use conceal to hide one unit but otherwise they're fragile. So I'd recommend some transports, either rhino or terrax drill is best.
2) you want to have the havoks in units of all heavy bolter and all lascannon. That way if you need to pop a tank you pile some stratergems on the lascannons, if you need to kill marines the heavy bolters.
3) one big blob of oblits is better than 2x2 for lots of reasons, mainly because you want to get the most out of veterans of the long war and endless cacophony.
4) think you need to update battlesctibe, some of those points/PL are out.

Don't worry about being too cheesy, they're by no means an overpowered army, but they have a lot of fun tricks. Good luck
