Hi all,

I've recently started a P&M log on my progress into painting some Primaris marines for the first time having picked up Indomitus and slowly stock piling minis from the conquest magazine and getting the marines from Dark Imperium. My goal with this army is to "rebuild" the 5th company of Excoriators, a Second Founding chapter from Dorn's lineage. They're a fairly underexplored chapter with only a couple of books written years ago on them, so this gives me some wriggle room to build almost a pure Primaris company from there.

My painting goals with these marines are to challenge myself to build a 2k list and paint it in a reasonable amount of time while I can't play games while keeping lore accurate with company colours, organisation etc. but still allow me to play around with the new marine sculpts to make them unique. I want to have a good tabletop standard across the board, with more detail on the main units like HQs and tanks, so the intercessors you see will be my baseline paint job for the force. This is mainly to have a catalogue of the minis I've painted and what people can expect from me if I ever jump into commission painting (unlikely, but one can hope!). The weathering is intentionally heavy, but I want to show that I can actually paint white, a nemesis of mine for quite some time.

So, without further ado, I'll show off what I've done so far and add more as time goes on. Let me know what you think, C&C is always appreciated and feel free to throw a few votes onto them in the gallery too!

Great work! I love that flat-headed sword; it looks like it's meant for performing executions rather thsn combat - pretty grim stuff!

Thanks Soul Samurai, the flat headed sword is indeed cool, I was tempted to make it more broadsword like but decided to leave it.

I took a break from my Excoriators this weekend to try out Tamiya's range of paints, and have to say, love them for airbrushing! Here's a Blood Drinkers test model I did using X-7 thinned with X20 thinner. All done in under 2 hours for a tabletop mini. Let me know what you think!

Kudos for speed painting a Blood Drinker - don't see them around often. I don't use air brushes so speed painting is somewhat different for me

Hey folks, I wrapped up a squad of Eradicators from the Indomitus box at the weekend. Happy with how they turned out for the most part. The symbols are freehand and the weathering is a fun mix of oil and acrylic brushwork, and sponge weathering. C&C always welcome!

Great! I particularly like how they are both proper 40k grimdark *and* wouldn't look out of place in a 'hard sci-fi' setting.

Hey folks,

Another update of some completed marines for my Excoriators force. I finished off my Lieutenant and Bladeguard from the Indomitus box set, which leaves me with an Ancient, Chaplain and Outriders to go.

Let me know what you guys think, these were fun to paint up and great models to boot. Feel free to have a look through the gallery at other angles, I didn't want to flood this post with half a dozen side and rear angles of the Bladeguard.

Well this thread is FULL of win...

Can't praise these highly enough - the weathering is spot on in terms of execution and being just enough to convey a carefully worn look. I'm envious of the leather texturing on the tabards, and the power swords/volkite glow is perfect. Well done indeed

Hello folks!

Long time no see, but I've been on and off painting Excoriators as of late, and as I've not updated in a while, there have been a bunch of marines I've not shown off, so here goes! Plenty of weathering, freehand and battle damage, I hope you enjoy them, they're a real passion project from the amount of work I've put in and I'm hoping to get a game at some point! There's also a Deathwatch Excoriator painted for a friend's army and a Minotaurs Captain painted for another friend, but thought I'd chuck them in too.

This ship becomes more warped with every second spent here brothers, let us not see our faith in the God-Emperor wane where His light does not reach" - Amath Moretian aboard space hulk ++REDACTED++, Cicatrix Maledictum, M42

You need not worry brother, for as much as this banner is a relic of our ongoing crusade, the Stigmartyr is of highest importance, the Alpha Legion will not have this one too" - Keston Gonen prior to boarding space hulk ++REDACTED++, Cicatrix Maledictum, M42

4th Company Close Support Squad Gallow
