Hey chaps,

Been a long time since I've haunted these forums with predominately GW projects.

As with all things Covid I've dipped in and out of hobby, but super stoked to get stuck into Napoleonics.

I'm still at a build and research stage right now, but have a decent sized order coming in from the Perry brothers.

The Peninsular campaign has always interested me, a little more than the 100 days but both have great stories. Can also thank Bernard Cornwell for that.

Any way, hope to have pictures up soon. Atleast of the build, and regiment selections!

Thanks,

Luvvo

Hi all,

So here is a quick snap of the build and research phase as it stands:

I've settled on my opener to have 4 Infantry regiments, supported by a battery of Royal foot artillery, and a company of the 2/95th Rifles.

Whilst I also have 3 cavalry squadrons, dragoon heavies, light dragoons, and Hussars.

Plus a command frame.

I'm still narrowing down the specific regiments, their facings, and colours. But enjoying reading what actions they all fought in.

Hi all,

Quick queries.

Has anyone worked with Perry metals before? Do they need a good wash before I prime and paint? Thinking long-term maintenance, do they only need a varnish later on?

Also as for basing the regiments, I'm going to use 50mmx40mm cuts from Model Scenes "Grass Mat – Late Summer, Little Calc Stones 18X28cm Model Scene F713" (check them out, huge variety) and just laying it over the top. Think it will save a ton of time and still look good. Also adding in some sand pigment to make the terrain closer to Portugal/Spain.

Alsooo... anyone tried to airbrush these minis? At 28mm and some pretty detailed uniforms, I don't know how best to get through 150+ infantry!

Hey mate, an impressive collection of minis ready to go!

Love the idea about using the mat for basing - very clever, excited to see results!

I have never painted Perry miniatures before, or used an airbrush, and the most infantry I've ever done for one army is ~80. They went pretty quick with a simple base-wash-drybrush; but I admittedly ignored a lot of detail that might be used to make these guys pop like belts and pockets and shoulder frills etc.

Looking forward to whatever you do with them. Such a cool collection of minis!

I have never done anything with Perry miniatures before. I have work on some 15mm American Civil War models. I also run orks in 40k. It will be best to do a couple of test models for each unit. Try to stay basic while maintaining detail and you will get through each unit quickly. If you are doing two forces alternate between armies when completing units it may break up the work load.

@Tzurk, Thanks bud, still plugging away on the build and clean up before I prime. Waiting on a few key paints to come through as well before I get stuck in!

@Pointer5 Yeh think it best to test everything first! Hoping to pick up a bit of detail, as more of a passion project.
