Is the cost of a magic banner in addition to (i.e. an upgrade), or in lieu of (you only pay cost of magic banner - not both)?

In other words, a unit wants to but a magic standard costing 50 points, which is correct?

10 points for unit standard + 50 for magic banner upgrade= 60 points total
Magic banner = 50 points total

You must buy the standard bearer, who has an additional point cost over a regular model, and then you must purchase the magic standard for him to bear, which has its own cost.

It is an upgrade.

I'm on a podcast about (video) game design:

And I also stream tabletop painting/playing Mon&Thurs 8PM EST

And make YouTube videos for that sometimes!

For the record, it's like that in every edition. You have to have a Bearer before you can get a Standard for him to carry

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Another thing to note, it counts towards the value of the unit in every respect.

So a magic banner can help you reach 25% value of core or cause you to exceed the 50% limit on special.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.
