Hey all

Bit of a dumb question but I'm having trouble getting my head around something.

I have these Twin Linked Lascannons to paint -

But I don't really know what colour to paint them.

Currently they are undercoated black. They are going on a Deathwing bone coloured Land Raider.

I see most people paint Lascannons some kind of silver all over, but usually the body of the Lascannons are shrouded on a Land Raider, not in open air for all to see like these ones and I don't think that painting them silver all over will look nice/right anyway.

I have considered leaving the main body black and giving them a highlight (probably Dark Reaper followed by Fenrisian Grey), and painting the barrels silver (whilst leaving the barrel ends black also). But that I think would look a bit boring.

So, does anyone here have any suggestions/tips on this?

Thanks in advance.

Painting them the same way as the pic you provided would be a good idea. Alternatively if you do want to just go silver, breaking up the silver with copper or brass is a safe option. A heavy wash of Nuln Oil afterwards really ties it together.

Usually the way I like to paint a lascannon is with two colors: the army color, and a silver for the barrel, like so:

Old school Land Raiders tended to have them painted as bare metal, or the barrel in bare metal and the rest in an army accent colour. So metal and bone in a similar pattern to ph34r's pic above would work, although some Deathwing painters like to do weapon cowlings and other detail bits in dark green to break up the expanse of bone a little.

Thanks guys, that gives me a couple of ideas. That image ph34r posted is in particular very helpful.

I think I'll go with the Dark Angels green colour, or perhaps red.
