One question on the necrons in the current setting:

The necrons have this new strategic weapon meant to be used against tyranids that has the effect of reducing humans in its effect to total apathy. This is basically a side effect and not part of what the crons actually wanted.

So it can protect a world from the nids and probably stop them advancing past a line of worlds covered by it, apparently that's what the current setting suggests.

So, my question is, since the imperium is already prepared to abandon imperial worlds to the nids to save more important ones and even use exterminatus to stop nids feeding on worlds to expand the hive fleets, would they be willing to consider allowing the necrons to post this new weapon on those worlds to stop the nids? Sure, it kills the humans on it eventually, but they were going to be eaten by the nids or incinerated in exterminatus strikes anyway. Plus it leave the world intact and alive for later resettlement.

So if TSK sent a message to the HLoT and proposes letting necrons set up this 'stillness' effect on planets in the nids path, and probably even offered to let the imperium resettle them later, would they hold their noses and accept?

Szarekh might see it as preferable to the worlds being rendered sterile one way or another, and the imperium might be ok with it if it protected vital worlds and allowed them to concentrate their forces on defending them, plus keeping holy terra safe, of course.

I imagine bobby would gak in his armor at the thought of this, (but doesn't he do that anyway? ) and a lot of people would scream heresy so loud it would probably shatter some planetary crusts, but when looked at practically it might be a good option.

Even the blood angels called a very limited truce tith the silent king in the face of a nid threat once, and if those people can see the need for it and swallow their bile enough to do it, the HLoT ought to be able to.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

There is a problem with this scenario IMO.

The stillness effect is intended vs people. The Necrons are setting up the Pariah Nexus with 2 observed goals stated in Psychic Awakening.

1. Stilling the warp (a narrative weakness of their in their goal of conquest), thus reducing the power of Human Psykers, Nids, Eldar....etc etc....
and
2. Harvesting apathetic humans and weakening human resistance. They're harvesting people en-masse to provide bodies to crypteks to study a way to reverse biotransferrence.

Their behavior is blatantly antagonistic to humans, on purpose, they have no goal of coexistence, the goal is conquest and annihilation.

Its clear in the Blood of Baal books that the Necrons manipulated and used the Blood Angels, progressive withdrawing their forces and support, and making the humans do progressively more and more of the fighting. It gets to the point that Dante swears he'll get revenge for it. They basically used the humans as body shields to perform a clean withdrawl from the battlefield.

Szarekh is just clever enough to easily manipulate people to do what he wants, as befits his status.

Yeah, I'm confused about the 'primary intent' being against tyranids. The necrons are using this to perform widespread 'harvesting and experimentation' operations against humans.

Its really clear in every book & short story that mentions it.
