Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I am digging the new Blood Knights, less the potential base size and even less that I made an order relatively recently for the old Finecast models from GW, which cost a bit.

Anyone got an eye for scale and can glean whether they would fit in with 25x50mm cavalry bases? I don't care if they are al little too large, and by a 'little' I mean up to chaos knights, which did rank up, if the positioned them forwards and backwards alternately on the bases, and only used a single rank. Those restrictions will be fine for Blood Knights, I can only afford a single rank anyway, but I am concerned they might not rank up at all.

Yeah you could Probably fit them on a 25mm x 50mm base. The bases they're previewed on look a little bit big, But their profile and size tells me they should fit on a cav base alright

I'd be wary; the new Chaos Knights look like they should fit on 25x50mm bases too, but they made the horses just too fat to tesselate easily.

They'll probably fit, but if you try to rank them up old-hammer style they might have some issues. Looks like they are a little more dynamically posed than before, so you'll probably have to play a bit with where on the base they go.

I had problems with 8th edition Chaos Knights. They were 'designed' for 25x50mm bases but it was clear the sculptor never saw one.

I managed to make them fit but only with some base schnanigans with some knight elevated, some far back and some far forwards and some rearing up. Even then they didn't come together easily as a unit, ranking order is important.

Cold One Knights were thin enough but way too long, thankfully they and Chaos Knights didnt need a second rank, neither will Blood Knights, so I have a fair amount of play with the front and back ends of the base.

I really want to use these knights and the plastic Wight King too, and if I have to play about with them so be it.

However some new sculpts will not fit on a 25x50mm base no matter what I do. Thankfully all the ones I have met so far are missable including the 2020 Chaos Knights and Cowhat Elf cavalry.

Yeah, mine I had to finagle their posing and I ended up numbering them so I could do the tetris puzzle to make them fit each time.

I avoid numbering, but am crass when it comes to repoitioning. I dont havem all the way forwards or back, it looks ridiculous, but the lead steed is nearly an inch forward of the rearmost steed. It actually looks quite dramatic for charging cavalry.
By alternating forward and back I have enough leeway at I can add characters, and broadly swap the unit around.

Numbering works, and if the unit is matched to fit you dont need to reposition forwards or backwards, just account for the position of overhanging details vs gaps
