Subject: Ogre base sizes and how to play squares with round

Local whatsapp group had guy offering ogre 6th ed army book and random bits and there's small retro tournament circuit here(another coming july corona providing...). So figured i might take my ogres to those since those are by far easiest to fit from my armies. Chaos is hurt by 32mm rounds(warriors used to be 25mm square right?).
So. Basic ogres were 40mm squares right? Were characters same? I might need specific tyrant since aos tyrant is 50mm round but guess i can make one model no issue. Gnoblars were 20mm right? Hopefully not too essential...
Are there any movement trays premade that would work? Ideally have each 40mm square visible with round slot to insert. Doing those manually might be bit of effort.
Looks i have about 2100 before magic items etc without gnoblars. Good.

Here's a site with all the base sizes: https://issuu.com/miniwars/docs/warhammer_base_size_chart_v1
Characters are generally on the same scale as the normal units, yes.
This site has some movement trays with round holes, but they might not have any big enough: https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/hobby-accessories/1106-mdf-movement-trays-16-x-25mm.html
I would personally just blue-tack models onto flat trays.

Worry with just flat trays is exact area of square base to determine models in contact. But i'll tray putting base top of square base. Adds height but makes it exact. Blutack or maybe attach tiny metal piece to which magnet under round base tacks on

Could mark the tray at every 40mm interval somehow perhaps?

the base sizes you stated are correct. Just remove the round bases. Models with round bases are despised and looked down onto by Gods and men alike, and will spoil your capability to guess ranges and make your dice rolls fumble!

I'm not sure how many adapters there are that won't make you gain size by applying them. Ideally if it's an army that's going to be crossplayed in AOS, you could still go squares as it has been stressed by all but the most ardent tourney tryhards that base size doesn't matter in that game. Also, it wouldn't be such a bad thing to have armies exclusive to either rule set.
And DEFINITELY cheering on your decision to choose 6th as your WFB jumping in point.

For 4-6th WFB, 2-5th 40k, and similar timeframe gaming
Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

This is how I handle it with my Ogres. I can use them for AoS, Warhammer, Kings of War, 9th Age etc. I got the movement tray from Litko and just textured it the same as the bases of my Mawtribe.
