I like most of the first 3 star trek movie soundtracks and listen to them a lot on my phone.

I really liked the theme to 'lifeforce' and have it on my phone to help drown out the inanities of the world around me as a go thru it.

https://youtu.be/DC0MMcR9FsQ

The theme to a movie called "Horror express" is eerie and stays with you basically forever. Listen to it once and it'll be stuck in your head for the rest of your life. Listen if you dare.

Your favorite or most memorable movie soundtracks would be...?

One of my all-time favorites is Avatar. Say what you will about that movie and its plot, but the music was awesome! Pretty much anything else by James Horner would also be right up there.

Black Rain soundtrack stands out for me.
The original Tron soundtrack by Wendy Carlos (yes, I'm well aware it wasn't composed under that name, but I'm not going to deadname her ).

Tron:Legacy by Daft Punk was the only one of their albums I could listen to.

I'll always chime in with the original Blade Runner soundtrack. But in recent years the soundtrack of Mandy (w/ Nicolas Cage) stood out to me. I think it was the last score Johann Johannssonn made before he passed away. Any collaboration between Nicolas Winding Refn and Cliff Martinez is also pretty golden in my opinion as well.

The film scores that really got to me are:

Gladiator - I really like the mixture of choral and symphonic and the themes that run through the whole set just make me happy

Oblivion - the mixture of light airy melodies with deep industrial
Horn works really well for me. Also the final credits track with the vocals is awesome.

Frozen 2 - I saw the film with my daughter when it came out, then proceeded to buy the cd and mainlined it in the car for about 6 months. The duet work in the glacier scene and the “Aurora” melody in general make me shiver

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Surprised no one has said Star Wars so far

Every bit of it is great. Well, maybe not the redone Jabba’s court music.

And Seth MacFarlane can sod off. The Cantina Band play two songs. Mad About Me and Sand Dune Special. The big talentless hack.

As complete soundtracks with specific songs, not just a musical score, I'd have to say -

Top Gun
Good Morning Vietnam
Air America
Wayne's World
Full Metal Jacket
School of Rock

To name a few.

Individual theme songs I'd say The 007 film theme tunes up to and including Goldeneye.

For instrumental scores I'll 2nd Star Wars mostly Original Trilogy for me but also the Dual Of The Fates from episode 1. And Star Trek, the original 6 movies, love that bit of Klingon music in the opening of Star Trek The Movie.

Also I'll 2nd Blade Runner.

Would also add Apocalypse Now, Predator and Enter The Dragon.

Anything by Lalo Schifrin. Enrico Moriconi also. Look them up.

To be honest there's several movies I like with songs in them that I can hear and name the movie, like Jingle Bell Rock from Lethal Weapon and Self Preservation Society from Italian Job. Movie classics with songs that hook you.

Star Wars/Star Trek are generally pretty good.

I'm rather a fan of The Lost Boys and Desperado soundtracks too.

A lot of other great suggestions listed so far as well.

It's a great travesty that no one mentioned lord of the rings. Easily my favorite soundtrack to any film ever. Honorable mentions to Mad Max Fury Road, Infinity War, and Jurassic Park.

That piece ended up being used as the "Klingon theme" and was used in ALL of he other movies that featured them (also several tv series did it, too). Sometimes with some time signature changes, but the motif was definitely there.

Can't say I actually noticed that. But then I only realised in recent years that the TNG theme was used in, or came from, the original movies...

James Horner has come up a lot already, but I’ll mention The Rocketeer.

Pretty much any score by Ennio Morricone, but leaning heavily on The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Pretty much anything by James Horner, but leaning heavily on Krull or Wrath of Khan.

The soundtrack to Fist of the North Star is pretty spectacular as well, especially Heard of Madness.

Yeah, the TNG theme was written for the motion picture.

Queen of the Damned is a absolutely terrible movie with a absolutely fantastic soundtrack.

Batman Forever. Because it's a bunch of good songs that have absolutely nothing to do with Batman.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

The Muppet Movie (1979) has a bunch of great songs.

The Crow (1994) is a good snapshot of the songs of the time.

The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions is an album of Seu Gorge doing acoustic, Portuguese covers of David Bowie songs. Sounds odd but is quite delightful. He is one of the crew in the film and sings a few of them during the film, and several are on the regular soundtrack, but recorded more and that is what this album contains.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

The film itself wasn’t particularly memorable, but I like the soundtrack for Miami Vice.

Not the whole score, but the end theme for The Terminator is a cracking piece of music. Not so much the remix for T2, though.

Someone did a mashup of the FotNS theme with the Space Jam theme, and it may be the best thing ever put on the Internet. Certainly in the top three.

Spoiler:

It might be a little obvious, but I'll nominate the James Bond theme. Incredibly distinctive, and it also catches the essence of the character well--stylish and svelte, but also a bit wild and out of control, with sudden bursts as things erupt into violence. And then the fade-out at the end as the man of mystery fades back into the shadows.

Spoiler:

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."
