I started work off an on a while ago on a homade industrial terrain piece featuring an 'exhaust field' that was venting exhaust from some sort of underground facility and made from a sheet of foamcore, some dollar treek tapioca cups and 1/2" (Sorry, metric freaks) pvc plumbing.

After debating how to make the base look like concrete, cement, etc I went with what I call 'curb sand", that fine sand in my town that builds up along the curbs in the streets. (My home town does not have soil, we have dirty sand instead. Most lawns look awful unless you import soil for them.) and just collected some in a cup, spread watered down pva glue on the foamcore sheet and just sprinkled it on. After drying and clearing the metal parts i'm ok with it. I planned to do more like a long stain under the pipe but just decided not to.

So, my completed homade exhaust field for 40k.
