I've come across frustrating information that the base sizes for SM infantry went from 25 to 32 mm since I last played, many years ago. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere I can find the current base sizes for models, if not specific, at least by type?

No. 40K operates on the base your models as supplied basis. Most competitive players expand that to base your models according to what the currently supplied GW kit is supplied with basis.

There isn't a 'master list' of base sizes for 40k, but if you look on the GW store pages it'll tell you what they're currently supplied with.

LVO has a base size chart: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1A31mVI4s1cSlXNQuxmZXQZt4dkxPIcVe/view

It's unofficial outside of LVO itself, but anecdotally, it seems like lots of other organized events has adopted it.

They need to update that with Death Guard as DG have an outstanding issue:

The Dark Imperium Lord of Contagion and the Lord Felthius Lord of Contagion are on different base sizes. Same unit, different weapon options, Felthius is on a Terminator base and the generic Lord is on something between that and a dreadnought base.

It's not great.

FWIW, I've been going through and rebasing all my CSM and Daemons on the new sizes. They look much better on the larger bases, IMHO.

I had this question myself and the main response was, unless you're planning to go to tournaments, it really shouldn't matter to anyone you play with so long as the models are properly based on a size that they have been officially based on. If you are planning to take them into a tournament, your best bet is to bite the bullet and rebase them all to current standards. Baring that, make sure to clear it with the TOs before signing up.

My specific question was about rebasing old Terminators, but I'll probably end up rebasing everything anyway as they do tend to look a bit better on larger bases. If you do end up rebasing any old models with slotta tabs and don't want to clip the tabs off, my idea is to use a small layer of cork board on top of the new base and cut a slot into it as needed. Can make good rock or pavement style basing scenery.

If you need a lot of new bases, Amazon has plenty of options with decent prices. I personally bought 100-base packs because it was usually much cheaper per base (and I tend to buy a lot of old models in need of new bases). Like $15 for 40 bases or $20 for 100 cheaper. That's an extra 60 bases for a third of the price of the first 40. That was with 40mm bases as I have a lot of old Terminators, Ogryn, etc that need those sizes (they also make or good objectives basing and such), but I believe 100 32mm bases only cost $15 or 16. 25mm slotta were something like $12/13 iirc (I have acquired a lot of old metal IG over the last year and most need bases). All with free shipping of course. And all at a fraction of the cost of what GW will hustle you for. They want $40 for 100 32mm or 100 25mm, $5 for 5 40mm, and it just gets more ludicrous from there.
