Mostly historical, but a few fantasy, Dr. Who, and Gates of Antares sprues. However, there is a minimum order for locations outside the UK, which is $50 in USD. Not willing to pad my order to that extent, so this sale doesn't work for me. Our UK members may find the sale worthwhile for kit-bashing ops.

Might have to pull the trigger on some Daleks, WGF AWI, Algoryns, and a boat sprue. It’s a shame the “discounts” aren’t really there.

Wow I had no idea most of these kits even existed. Time was I knew every plastic kit out there, now, not even close.

Plastic Dr Who minis, when did that happen?

That being said, passing this time.

I picked up some of the fancy blue splash markers to use as stun markers in 5Parsecs (and any other similar games)

I’m still Dripping in C3 and ghar sprues from their £1 sprue sale a while back...

The prices this time on the BtGoA stuff is just not even worth considering for me currently, and I would like some more Ghar.

Yeah, I've been hoping to pick up some more Ghar, but they aren't worth it at that price.

I've ordered from Warlord Games before, but that was Pre-Brexit. So I assume the new minimum order requirement is due to Brexit. Otherwise I'd have been glad to order again.

They changed a couple years ago to making you pay in your currency with a GW style conversion rate compared to when they allowed you to pay in £ no matter where you lived. That’s about when I stopped ordering from them.

Yup, where other companies (thus far at least, from what I've seen) have been able to adapt to the new situation without too much hassle, Warlord Games decided to switch to a duties/VAT paid system with a 50$/€ minimum order value, shipping costs of 24€/25$ if I recall correctly unless ordering >150$/€, and exclusively using UPS outside of the UK. Haven't ordered from them since and, as long as this situation lasts, I don't think I will again to be honest.

The game has been on hold for a couple of years but is meant to be seeing new releases this year (they were previewed back in 2019). I am not sure we will actually see any more releases after they have released the currently sculpted new models.

That is a good point. I haven't ordered from them since they made the switch either.

The dollar to pound conversion rate is getting pretty oppressive as is. You add in some country penalties on top and it just isn't worth it.

The shipping was $25. That’s bad. But they offered me a free box of Domari to offset shipping. That’s good. But two sprues of Domari from the sale still would have been cheaper than $25, sabotaging the “offset shipping” endorphins. That’s bad. But I can pretend I spent less than $10 on shipping. That’s good. The shipping is courier service from post-Brexit England.

$25 for shipping, and GW conversion rates! Yeah, too rich for my blood. Have to find a US-based OLGS that deals with Warlord for when I do need Warlord. Otherwise, I'm good. {Have a large Hail Caesar Macedonian army that I'm not working on, and not likely to since local interest in Ancients has dried up.}

Although I would have liked the Daleks and Cybermen ...

They have historical kits in their “offset shipping” deal. It doesn’t undo the exchange rate, but for the shipping it’s a nice bargain.

They also maintain a US web store while doing these pricing and shipping practices. I would have thought the point was to consolidate their merchandise and to leverage an in country site/distribution point to encourage US purchasing. Oh well.

Unfortunately, they haven't released new plastics for most of their historical ranges in the last decade or so, and I don't think most people need yet more of their plastic Celts or Romans...

Now, for completeness I should say that the current practice can be marginally cheaper than the new Brexit reality for some people, depending on the local postal services. In Belgium, for example, imported packages can face something like a 24€ handling charge, so Warlord's shipping costs are already offset there by evading that. In other EU countries however, those costs are literally just a few euros using the national postal service (just 2.90 here in Finland). Plus that would mean not having to deal with UPS, who are frequently just terrible around here.

I wonder how long they'll keep it up, as I can only imagine that while Brexit won't be good for any of the UK-based miniature producers, Warlord must be suffering disproportionally with these additional self-inflicted issues.

There doesn't seem to be a general n&r thread for warlord games, but fwiw they sent an email teaser earlier about a "big announcement soon" with a picture that I think is the iwo jima memorial? So possibly something pacific theater related announcing later.

I feel Warlord makes the worst plastic historicals on the market. Yes, including Eccentric Minis.

With this purchase, I was able to get a bunch of things off my list, including some WGF minis, the Dr Who plastics I’ve wanted since 3(?) Doctors ago, and some Antares minis for conversions that I likely would never be able to find cheaper. For a salve on my Gamer’s OCD, or a cost of cashing out the need to pay may more attention to Warlord, this wasn’t too bad. As a regular business practice, not so much.

Wow... randomly got some plume markers as I thought they could be useful for marking stun or blasts or something.

They are much bigger than I thought, and even have a little 1-12 marked and can be use for tracking.

I may not need all of the 36 I bought

I like the ECW/30 Years war plastics. I have a bunch, and a ton unassembled,.

The sabre arms from the ECW riders sprue is my favorite bit to add rapiers to other figures for use in RPGS as swashbucklers or other musketeer type characters.

But... i only really like the plastics themselves with the metal helmets you can buy from warlord. The Morion pack and the Imperial pack specifically. I found a US seller selling the Swedich morion pack on ebay at a reasonable price... but shipping and minimum order means i am unlikely to buy direct from Warlord again...

And... they did not have the ECW rider sprue in this sale anyway... The Wargames Factory WSS riders spure has a good sable on it as well, but it was rarely availabel seperatly, and the rest of the set is pretty bad...

They have updated many sprues in the last few years? Bolt Action Germans and Americans have been updated a few years ago. British/Canadian is being released soon or just recently. Many other new items have been released. SPQR ranges are in warlord plastic now, with new models available. They've had plenty of new things and updates.

Well, that's my point, pretty much all new or updated kits in the last years have been WWII and a few others; don't think there have been new plastics for any ancients, medieval or renaissance ranges besides the few Landsknecht sets they bought from another company, already a good while ago now - just like pretty much all plastics and metals in those ranges (some of which don't even scale well with others they offer in those same ranges). Thankfully, Victrix has released more up-to-date versions of several of those kits now, plus new plastics for sets Warlord still only offers in hybrid metal/plastic sets using the same old single sprue of Celtic infantry for Gauls, Britons, Germanics, Dacians including some cavalry counterparts.

Any new models for "SPQR" are "Warlord Resin", not multipart hard plastic. (Unless I've missed something.)

My package arrived. My Domari “squad” to offset shipping turned out to be a single sprue. 8 dudes instead of 16.

So, is that a mispack or false advertising?
