I play imperial guard.
I use the warhammer app to set up my army lists and it claims that the maximum amount of infantry squads i can take is 3.
Is this per detachment or per army?

Sounds like a bug applying the rule of 3 to a unit it shouldn't.

For a 2k game, there's something called the Rule Of Three.

That means that you can only take a max of three of the same datasheet, except for Troops and Dedicated Transports.

So you can have, at most, three sets of Leman Russes (so up to nine actual tanks, if you squadron them), three squads of Bullgryn, three Vendettas, etc. But it does NOT apply to Troops, so you can take as many Infantry Squads as points and slots allow.

I have no experience with the 40K app, but what is your detachment? There are only 3 Troops Choices allowed in most detachment, Battalion and Brigade excepted.

Well Imperial Guard squads are pretty bad ass, if you could take more than 3 that would be pretty OP.

Yeah, I think alextroy got it. The max 3 troops limit is probably because the OP selected a patrol detachment.

The Warhammer 40,000 App is still pretty buggy though, it insists that my Heavy Weapons squads with Mortars are still 48 points. And that I can't take Techpriest Enginseers in a guard battalion. (The elites datasheet one from codex Astra Militarum)

I just started paying for it last week, and... not terribly impressed so far.

Yeah, your $ would be better spent on.... well just about anything else.

Hey they aren't bugs its a feature ! It forces you to know your book, costs and set ups better so you can't just be lazy and rely on the army builder. See what they do for us ? That is worth easily double the price, we warhammer players don't want none of them there easy buttons.
