So a query came up the other day while playing a crusade mission that forced us to put half our units into strategic reserves.

I tabled my opponent, but we both still had units in reserve. We searched the rules (which are so badly arranged in the book imo) and couldn’t find anything about tabling.

We decided to carry on and let him bring the reserves in. Does anyone know what are the actual rules on this?

The Sudden Death rule is no longer active in 9th edition.
In theory you could lose your entire army T2, yet at the end of T5 have still more VP than your opponent.
The game doesnt end, so reinforcements can still arrive (unless they count as destroyed by some other rule).

That is correct, they don't stop the game when 1 side has lost all units, they let the game continue so that the surviving person can continue to collect victory points (usually off his secondary objectives). As Thairne said, you could still have someone who lost every unit win the game if they have more victory points at the end of the game.

Since you both still had units in reserve, you both can bring those onto the board following the normal rules for the game you're playing.

If you completely table someone on T2 you would just continue playing T3, T4 and T5 collecting VP's.

Basically all you would be doing is moving units to positions to hold objectives or get secondaries. Than just repeat this every turn until the game ends.
