So I’m looking into getting some mechanized guard both for display and for gaming, does this look like an acceptable list for 500 point games?

It looks alright, but I'd skip the grenade launchers, and take 3 dual flamer chimeras for the transports.

Yeah dump the taurox and get chimeras instead. Also you have zero anti tank, even at 500 points you should expect at least one tank even if they are transports. Drop the vox (they're useless) and maybe upgrade to plasma or melta in your squads.

Not sure what your range of models in, but you definately need anti-tank as mentioned above. I use vox casters a lot these days, but for a patrol mission, you might just consider adding another company commander or platoon commander and just stick with the squads. I still go for plasma over grenade launchers, just more cost effective.

To illustrate the good point made above about anti-tank. Imagine someone brings a Redemptor Dreadnaught to the fight he's going to start tearing your infantry apart and eventually threatening a vehicle with:
Onslaught gatling cannon (Heavy 12, S6, AP-1, Dam1)
Fragstorm Grenade Launcher (Assault D6, S4, AP0, Dam1)
Heavy Flamer (Heavy D6, S5, AP-1, Dam1)
Redemptor Fist (4 attacks, S14, AP-3, Dam D3+3)
He's also toughness 7 and 13 wounds.

You want to be thinking about how you can either contain or degrade/destroy that kind of threat so it doesn't completely eat your lunch.

Some folks will have a Manticore with Full Payload in the back to start beating down these threats early no matter where they are. Others will bring a tank commander with demolisher, but that gets expensive. More flexible might be a group of Bullgryns which don't mind getting in there and containing/beating this sort of threat down. I've used a veteran squad with autocannon and plasma to really put a dent into this kind of threat before as well.

Lots of ways to go about it, but include addressing this kind of thing in your thinkning

IMHO, you have anti-infantry potential even without tauroxes. So, instead of two of them you can take one normal Leman Russ battle tank. It isn't meta but still cool and big mini with grinding advance
