For those of you who might not have seen it. Please note that it's a 3D print campaign. Even if you don't back it, you can get a free Commissar STL. Early Bird ends today.

I feel like this is going to share the same fate the Eldar Kickstarter did. Aka taken down by Geedubs' legal team.

The tanks feel like a mistake, the silhouette is very recognizably GW. The soldiers and field guns should be absolutely fine.

Pretty cool

If you're using a 3d printer, just resize it slightly to whatever dimension you like.

The tanks make me think of Advance Wars more than 40k.

Infantry's not bad though.

Eh, Ok. I loved the first 20 "Not Valhallen" miniatures lines I saw. Now I think "Old school imperial guard were based on various warriors of earth histories, and while I love WWII soviets as much as anybody else, is that really where the market is? How about some imperial guard based on, IDK, WWI Belgians or Han Chinese? Or something really new?"

I think "Old School Imperial Guard" probably appeals to a LOT of gamers, especially the ones who were around during that time and want something not-Cadian for their IG armies. I'm not going to complain about more ranges of futuristic military miniatures.

I wouldn't kick the Space Russians of my gaming table.

The Tank is unique enough. Would prefer a more rounded turret but hey, I'm not the market for this.

This tank is literally 1:1 copy of Russ except they somehow managed to look proportions even more exaggerated and toy-like than the original.

I mean, you're doing Russians in space, why the frak you need ugly side sponsons instead of copying T-35 and putting 'side' guns in turrets?

That "not" Leman Russ turret looks bad. You should make it look more realistic. Make it wider and longer, off-set the turret hatch, potentially add a loaders hatch.

The tank honestly looks fine, and whoever thinks this is "literally 1:1 copy of Russ" needs to get their vision checked. The guard do look a bit on the large size, while thats the way GWs official minis are eventually going to end up going (if you think they aren't you're fooling yourself), but I think they need to be scaled down a bit.

The biggest risk here is that they actually used images of GW minis in their advertising which makes a C&D much more likely.

Well, the Aeterni KS got C&Ded for doing more or less the same, so we'll see I guess.

The tank is an odd Chibi Churchill type thingy. I also thought of Advance wars on viewing

9 miniatures, a cannon and a tank? That's all they've got? How are you supposed to make an army out of 9 highly individual looking sculpts?

Good luck to the project, but I'm not seeing the point of this 'starter

Stretch goals.

This one has had a few more models added in the stretch goals:-

There's also a handful of new female sculpts to be revealed in a few days apparently, along with Mortar and Heavy Bolter teams. Assuming they hit the remaining stretch goals, there should be sufficient models to run a command squad and two basic infantry squads with heavy weapons without repeating any sculpts (along with the Commissar). That's not a huge amount of models, but once you tack on the tank, it's okay for a £30 buyin. Not too cheap and not too pricey. The bloke running it says more unique models will be released in either a second KS or other format, so I suppose this is just the base force to test the market.

If GW were taking input for models for guard, my choices in descending order would be:

Praetorians
Catachans
Tallarn
Vostroyan

Hell I'd buy 1 army for each if they did them all.
