I doubt there is an actual answer but it seems like it would solve the problem they have with dreadnaughts and also be sufficiently whitescarsey.

Honestly you could probably make a wheeled dread fairly easily. Or tank treads. Alternatively you could make a rhino into a mobility scooter type thing.

Two things occur to me:

A.) That's probably tech heresy.

B.) The White Scars antipathy for being interred is only partly about the reduced movement speed. They seem to find the notion of being confined and unable to experience your surroundings in general pretty distasteful. Just because you're going fast doesn't mean you can feel the wind in your hair.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Why not a pair of tracks? It would probably be 100 times more efficient than feet.

Theory.

Imperial (and by extension Traitor) Dreadnoughts use a form of MIU. This is a cranial link which allows the Armour, Suit or Titan to become more or less an extension of the pilot’s body.

Whilst not conclusive, I can’t think of a single Imperial implementation of MIU technology isn’t bipedal and at least roughly anthropomorphic.

It could be that the MIU requires whatever it’s helping you pilot requires that whatever to roughly anthropomorphic, because the human brain is used to piloting a meat suit in that same rough shape. And may not (at least as the Imperium understands it) be able to cope with any other form of “body”without extensive reconditioning and training etc.

Think about it. It takes us around a year to learn to walk, give or take as it varies by sprog. As soon as we do, it’s all “two legs good, four legs bloody confusing and oh bugger I’ve got them all tangled”.

Even if the MIU can handle that, it’s still quite possibly a significant distraction for most pilots compared to the usual, kinda ish humanoid layout. In war, you don’t want your pilot any more distracted than they absolutely have to be.

Now to sit back, have a swig of my beer, and have someone point out a really bloody obvious example of MIU tech not wired into a roughly anthropomorphic suit.

Sounds fair. If you read the novel Imperator, it actually raises this point specifically: apparently that's why Titan princeps (who are pretty high ranking members of the Cult Mechanicus, when you think about it) almost never have significant augmetics like servo-arms or mechadendrites.

It's a deliberate policy by the Adeptus Titanicus to keep a princeps' subconscious and reflexive body-image as close to 'two-armed bipedal humanoid' as possible; 'phantom limb syndrome' being a really bad thing when wired to a strategic-scale war engine....

Would be cool to have a successor chapter doing that.

In one of the HH DA novels they itner a dreadnaught occupant into a huge siege tank. Transplanting his amniotic sack from the dread sarcophagus into the tank. Ive read of plenty titan priceps who get interred in an amniotic sack as well much in the same way. I think this was mentioned in mechanicum.

Therefore one would suspect its possible to interred humans into massive tanks/ mobile weapons platforms instead of AI.

No model = no rules = no lore.

Alternately because the White Scars' problem with Dreadnaughts is that their physical being is constrained, not because of the specific shape of the machine their physical being is constrained within, or surely they'd have continued development on the BA jump-pack dreads from 30k.

Or, if my theory is correct (never guaranteed), they’d simply build a bike or speeder big enough to carry a Dreadnought interred brother?

On the argument that even the existing Marine bikes are utterly implausible as a vehicle in terms of its design, why the hell not?

Aw come on they could totally shoot those guns set on a fixed angle with the same accuracy as a normal firearm... that they are also shooting... while driving... and they can fight in melee... somehow...

Alien technology!

haha..there are just so many things wrong with it. The worst for me (and this is a criticism that could also be laid at Judge Dredd's lawgiver motorcycle) is that there is no way the thing would ever turn with that thickness of front tyre. It would be doomed to continuously go in a straight line and hope that's where the enemies are!

The opposite end of the spectrum for me is the Infinity Aleph bike, which is still a bit daft with her waving a sword around, but you can see a lot of thought has gone into the feasibility of the design.
